Well, because even if we use 67 Wilt as our version he was still probably the primary anchor of it and I just don't know how Wilt would react ego wise if Bird is that guy on the team. Maybe it wouldn't be an issue but I think there is a reason for concern given how Wilt's personality was. Sure we could point to 1970's Wilt to say it wouldn't be but that isn't 67 Wilt when he was still at his physical peak.

Isn't that what this thread is about? The OP didn't specify a particular era despite being asked. Since there is no era in which all 4 played, I am assuming it is based on their peak relative to their own era otherwise it doesn't make sense to me. Just assuming it is based on time-machining everyone to 1967, when only one of the 4 played, makes as little sense as time-machining everyone to 2023 since again only one of the 4 played. Relative to their own era is the only way this comparison makes sense to me.

It's hard to say imo since most of these sort of threads are people trying to plug them into today's nba I would say. It would be much better if people who make these kinds of thread would specify exactly what the scenarios are meant to be for each duo they want us to give an opinion on.

If the OP does not stipulate a particular era, I vote (as I did here) based on each player relative to their own era. That's the only way these comparisons make sense to me. I do not make assumptions based on time machines since I don't believe they exist just as I don't make assumptions that comic book or other fictional characters are being compared.
