Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
Anthony Black has not been consistant this season. I am considering dropping him out of first pick consideration. The most consistant players I have seen this year are
Brandon Miller
Jalen Wilson
Tubelis
Brandin Porzinski
Not sure where to rank Mojave King because I do not like G League.

Kansas VS West Virginia is on now ESPN ( Jalen WIlson, Gradey Dick ) also pay attention to Kevin McCallar. I think he would be a great pickup for us if he went indrafted

Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
One more thing about my tv. I'm gonna see if I can watch it online. I didn't explain what made it so funny. What made it so funny is just yesterday I posted I purchased a bunch of tv's. The reason why is because I wanted to insure I would never be without tv. (I am that way for some reason I love insurance on things lol) so the VERY NEXT DAY the cable goes out lmaoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
If that aint a ralph kramden moment I don't know what is. I just wanted to clear that up and show you guys how hilarious that is. Thats all lol.

I'm trying understand why the twin that cant shoot is the one ranked higher when they seem to have similar skills everywhere else.

This was by far his worst game of the season. Sat out most of the first half with foul trouble. Fouled out in 16 minutes. Never got any kind of rhythm. His box score didn't look too bad for 16 minutes of play (7/2/2/3), but he usually looks better than his box score and this game he was actually just not good.
18 year olds are going to have some bad games, so I don't think its a huge deal, but Ive been on the verge of moving him back a spot in my rankings for a minute, so this seems like a good time to do it.
Nick Smith Jr had his best game of the season imo. He shot 9-23, but it was against a really good team and he made a couple 3s. It was his most composed game of the season, too. I'm still not a fan when judging him by the standard of a guy who is being talked about as a top 5-10 pick. The vast majority of his shots were mid-range or floaters and they were mostly contested.

I don't really know what to think about the shooting situation given how unclear it is what actually happened, but I thought this also had a lot of good general stuff about Brandon Miller in it.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
As many of you know I have Craig Porter JR as maybe the best PG in college baketball. Today he goes against another of my favorite PG's in Jalen Cook. The last time they played cook dropped 20 on Porter. Today might be a fun game to watch. Here are highlights of Jalen Cook against porters team. If he were taller I would rate him higher.
Wichita State @ Tulane - 3:00 PM - ESPNU ( Craig Porter JR VS Jalen Cook )
This might turn out to be a gem of a game

Here are their stats from semifinal game Friday night.
Amen 23 points, 11 assists, 7 rebounds and 4 steals... He went 11/11 from free throw
Ausar 26 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks... He went 5/10 from 3
Amen is bulldog getting to the rim who can really pass. Russell Westbrook comp
Ausar is a better off ball scorer. Wiggins type.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
The game was decent. Not as good as the game against Zhuric Phelps.
It was Porter Jr's birthday. He had a triple double
Craig Porter JR - 15 pts / 10 reb / 10 ass / 3 stl / 1 blk
Jalen Cook - 27 pts / 4 ass
there is a game on later.
California Baptist @ Stephen F. Austin - 7:00 PM - ESPNU ( Taran Armstrong )
Depending on what happens there I will rank Craig Porter either over Taran Armstrong or not.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
Just ran 25 simulations on Tankathon. Here is the breakdown.
We won the number 1 pick 5 times or 20%. Well over our 12.5%
Here are other teams that won number 1 pick and how many times
Hornets - 5
Spurs - 5
Rockets- 5
Pacers - 4
Magic - 3
Pistons - 2 (least lucky)
Blazers- 1
Hornets avg. pick 4.36
Each pick broken down
1st- 5 - 20%
2nd - 1- 4%
3rd- 2-8%
4th- 6- 24%
5th- 0 - 0%
6th- 6 - 24%
7th- 5 - 20%
So we ran slightly better in top 4, 56% when our odds are 48.1%

We ran super well, but overall our pick avg of 4.36 isn't much worse than doing the same experiment with Rockets.
Rockets landed the 5th pick 16 times in my experiment. 64% of the time. Which was bad. Technically speaking over 100 sims they will land a top 4 pick 52% and the 5th pick 48% of the time. Either way their avg pick over that same span was 4.04.

Very interesting findings in terms of teams floors, I suppose I haven't thought about it a ton.
Basically with current standings of Rockets, Spurs, Pistons, Hornets.
The floor for Rockets is 5th and this is their most likely draft slot.
The floor for Spurs is 6th, but 5th is still their most likely draft slot
The floor for Pistons is 7th, but their most likely draft slot is 6th.
The floor for the Hornets is 8th, but their most likely draft slot is 6th.
The odds of both Spurs and Rockets not being top 4 is so low, Spurs only land the 6th pick like 10%.
The odds that all three Spurs, Pistons and Rockets miss top 4 is so low. Unlikely Hornets pick 7th. Probably sub 3%.

Feels relatively high based on my findings that we draft one of the Thompson twins based on their draft range. With us picking 4th, 6th and 7th on 68% of these sims.
Still will depend on front office preference, but that is in their sweet spot right now.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
Scoot last game shot 4/12 for 14 points, 6 assists and 7 boards, 6 turnovers and 5 fouls.
Scoot is 19.
Meanwhile Josh Minott the 45th pick in the draft scored 37 points against them on 16/21 shooting and 11 boards in the same game.
He is 20 years old.
I get Scoot is younger, but are you not worried his career high is 28 in the Gleague playing vs majority of scrubs. Then guys like Bryce McGowens are dropping 35+? Jaden Hardy is averaging 29 ppg over 11 games and he was picked in the second round. Yet the guy projected to be picked 2nd is putting up 18 ppg?
Also, only shot 1 three in the last game. So he was 4/11 from inside the arc.
Scoot is 19.

I agree with you I am not a Scoot fan and especially for the Hornets a 6’2 ball dominant PG makes no sense with Lamelo
