Only thing actually bothering me is his slow release.
Seems like he gather for years and always make his open shot tougher than it shouldve been.

His passing is actually very good.

He isn't some 2nd year player trying to figure out his shooting form. He's a 10y r vet who has averaged 5 3PA a game and at times, 7 3PA a game.

Yeah sometimes he brings the ball to his knees and start his shooting form from there.
Still super weird for me but if its working... kudos to him.

When he doesnt do this overextended release his shot looks very fluid.

i honestly dont think he needs to worry too much about releasing it real quick. with our gravity he will have plenty of time to take the shots

Glad we managed to pick up Ross. He has similar numbers to Jae Crowder. Both shot an identical 41.8 fg% career wise, in terms of 3’s Ross is at 36.2% on 5apg, while Crowder is at 34.7% at 4.5apg. Ross is a bucket getter and Phoenix desperately needed that off the bench.

More than anything, you need someone with that elite score mentality. You saw in the playoffs, better players than Ross (.e.g Mikal Bridges) have their offensive impact diminished or they shy away from shots, whereas guys like Ross who think they are steph curry, seem to maintain their level and hit big shots.

Great pickup...he's got all of the tools. He SHOULD have been our starter at SG, scoring 20ppg...but, he's wildly inefficient ("coin toss Ross") and not always fully invested in the game (why would he be last season?). I truly think, and have been saying all along, that, in a competitive contending environment, he'll wake back up. As far as analyzing his mechanics-stop it! He's been making tough shots for a decade, regardless of defensive attention. I don't think he's seen an open shot in 5 years. He's also stated on podcasts that he wants that next deal and his bite of the new salary cap, so he's motivated. The Human Torch will be an excellent addition to PHO.

I hope you are right.

With all those perimeter high-usage scorers coming from the bench the questions are shot selection and DEFENSE.

I think Monty and James Jones will be OK with him taking some difficult shots BUT he needs to be at least average on that side of the court. He can't be a liability for us on defense.

Yeah the fact that Ross didn't start for most teams even though he could have started just tells me what his niche is in the NBA and that's being exactly what his nickname is. His microwave scoring, subpar defense and inability to run an offense means he's perfect for that 6th man role.

He's definitely a finisher (vs creator) which is fine. I think his defense is underrated - not special, but not terrible like some guys in the league. His athleticism is off the charts...the guy just moves like a panther, very smooth and explosive. Rarely dunks on people's heads, but every once in a while he'll remind everyone what he is capable of. Of all the Magic alumni in better, more competitive situations, he's the one I really will root for. Easygoing, great with courtside fans and kids, supposedly also a great locker room guy - not a vocal leader, just a solid guy with vet know-how. He WILL win a playoff game or two for PHO, IMO. He'll disappear in some as well. Great pick up....Ironically, exactly the guy (on paper) the Magic are looking for. Big, athletic, scoring guard who can spread the floor, and make high-volume 3's....needs a motivating situation - I get it.

I'm still not sure what to think about his shot release. with the better defense teams i would have to think he won't have as easy of a time getting that off.

Get a bucket.

That's a big reason why Terrence Ross is in Phoenix.

He expands on that role going into the playoffs.
