JI has been sidelined again and I hope he is healthy for the Play In Push
On "Is that It", Announcer David Steele has mentioned Jonathan Isaac's defensive number per 36 could be better than ever.
I agree, JI needs to play more, a lot more. His defense and rim protection is something this Magic young squad doesn't have. Plus, he can provide length
If we slide JI into starting lineup, that means someone has to come off. Gary Harris shot 1 for 7 today from 3s.
Could a lineup like this work?
Fultz/Franz/JI/Paolo/Wendell
Franz, at the beginning of the season, even handled majority of PG duty. He can definitely play guard position.
The biggest thing coming out of this lineup is 3 point shooting. Definitely! JI is streaky. Fultz can not shoot 3s and Paolo has been inefficient from 3 point land. Wendell was 1 for 11 today against Indiana.
This is just something hypothetical. We only have 21 games left and we are on a road stretch at New Orleans and at Bucks.
If we do not win enough games, we could say good bye to Play In Dream very soon.
Maybe not this year we experiment something like this, maybe next year. But I am a big fan of JI and I hope he plays a lot more in the rotation, maybe that is more realistic

Franz can play the 2 guard but I'd rather save his knees at SF so he can be around for a really long time.
We need to figure out how to create two different lineups with Isaac and Cole as co-sixth player of the year.

Wouldn't it be crazy though if Jonathan really worked on his game over his two years off the court and ends up starting off next year as a bona fide rock star on the court. Because he wasn't that far away from that trajectory when he got hurt(x2).

What's the point if he will be on his 10 mpg a week restrictions for rest of a year?

I have more faith in JI playing the 2 than Franz.
Go watch the game against the Jazz, Clarkson ran around Franz especially during crunch time.
Still, JI shouldnt start yet.

I am wondering if Load Management is the new Cash Considerations for Orlando.
I hear he's got game!

I think they are well aware that his body can't really survive serious PT nor whole season so they just play along until his contract is up or they can trade him for something.
Nobody with straight face can tell me that after near 3 years player can't play more than 10-15 mpg and needs 4 days of rest in between. At age of 25. Fact that he needed 3 years to recover from something most players return in 9-12 months is enough of evidence.

JI could start, but I think coming off the bench is still best. The problem like tonight is that Mosely needs to recognize when someone is off and tonight WCj was off. He should've been yanked in favor of JI.
Our shooting tonight was bad and Indiana looked way better with their shooters vs our athletes.

Isaac could start, but I don't think he should get more than 20 mpg this rest of his career.

it was 3 years since he played in front of an NBA crowd. He came back in the summer after injury in the bubble just to tear multiple ligaments on a non-contact play. Then there was a year of recovery... and a tank season that we know had to play into it as well. then he got injured on the other legs as a possible overcompensation for previous injury (non contact again) and they decided to take it slowly... because obviously his body was not ready to handle the strain of the power output. So... yeah..... sucks for those of us that want to see him but... hey....they are trying to do their best that his body is strong and capable of sustaining a long and healthy career. Which... is still not a 100 percent guarantee and can lead to another injury... but they are trying their best.

This, JI doesn't seem like a guy who will play more than 20 - 25 minutes per game going forward. His role would be a Super 6th man.
Also, Franz at the 2 would be a disaster. He's not a natural ball handler. I can't imagine him improving that significantly for him to be trusted to be a full time 2 guard.

Im with you. A lot here said Franz can play the 2. IS that the best place for him though? The good-to-elite SGs can run rings around Franz.

We need two legit guards on the floor most of the game. I don’t see starting lineup for JI. Ask me again at the 41 game mark next season.

Seeing all these posts, I agree more that JI should or shouldn't be a starter. But I also agree that JI needs to play more, way more!

Oh oh. JI can not even play tomorrow. I guess his dream of being a starter is getting slimmer day by day.
I just wish he can play more, but on the basis of being safe and healthy
We will see. He could be a difference maker in this Play In push, just by his defense

There is no playoff push. Stop it. We're tanking. Teams that are serious about the playoffs make moves for the current year. We sold off assets and just signed MCW

Re: Should we slide Jonathan Isaac into the starting lineup?
JIs minutes have increased incrementally. I think he was at 16 or 17 minutes the other night. I thought Wendell was off both last 2 games. Even his game winner he was pretty bad most of game but showed up in the 4th quarter. While I do like Wendell I feel like there's a possibility he is better suited for the backup big role. I could totally see him being the long time starter too. If JI can start next year and log a solid 24-30 minutes at the 5 I think it's definitely something to try. Who knows if he'll hold up or not.
I do believe we are in tankish mode from here on out. I think we'll try to stay below the bulls to reassure the chances of getting there pick this year instead of next year or winding up with 2 seconds. I mean as much as we love trading seconds for cash considerations are we willing to turn a probable lottery pick into cash considerations x2? Load management will be the new dnp-cd.

When I was watching his last game, I thought I saw him grabbing his groin. I guess it was the hamstring, tho. He did play for about 5 minutes after he injured himself.

Right hamstring was also where he had a small surgery. :/
