These guys need an actual offensive system to produce points. I'm not sure what anyone on the coaching staff is thinking right now but you can't run the same kind of sets we ran when the two drama kings were here.
This is a line up of role players and allegedly shooters. That means we need to move the ball, set up back door opportunities, screen the shooters open, and create offense off of forcing turnovers.
Sumner needs to play to at least get some speed in the backcourt.
Other than that, i dunno what to tell you. I can't watch this slop.

Re: GT: Nets @ Bulls || Friday 2/24/23 || 8:00 PM
I think I was wrong, and unfair to the team.
It was dumb of me to think that these new Nets would hit the ground running, and be a switch-everything monster against other teams, with little playmaking on the other end.
Even with really good personnel, it takes time to build a top, communicative defense, and that's pretty much our limit with these gentlemen.
Also, as a general Marks-apologist, I understand how fluffing impossible a situation it must have been, trying to find playmaking talent to put behind KD & KI. Personally, if I was a PG on the NBA level (and I did come close!*), I wouldn't want to be anywhere near those chuckleheads.
My point is-- I feel like we got fine value from the trades, but the way that we fans hoped it would immediately translate in to wins was perhaps premature. *guilty, as charged*
* lol.
Hell of a song though, is it not?

this team could win right away if someone stepped up to be a main guy to run an offense through. Bridges showed he can do it in one game, Cam did it for a week, and Ben did it in Philly.
I dont think anyone expected Bridges to be that guy so it's unfair to fully blame him but I do think JV deserves some blame for taking Cam out of the starting lineup. I get that he's trying to build a culture but part of a culture is accountability - and that's not just handing minutes to guys because they are veterans and try hard. in 3 of the 5 games he's played as a net, DFS has gone 0fer from 3. He's 1-10 in his last 2 games. he's scored 9 points twice in 5 games and that's his max. In Dallas he'd scored 10+ in 5 of his last 6 because he fit the role they needed with Luka drawing people in and distributing, here he doesn't.
and on top of that while he's had some good moments i would say his defense hasn't been all that impactful either. Randle lit him up to start the knick game. nobody played any defense vs chicago. he's obviously a good defender but unless you are talking about a DPOY candidate there's only so much any 1 defender can do (and this also goes for the 3 other guys on the roster who are or have been DPOY candidates).
like i said if they got offered 2 firsts for DFS, they probably should have taken it unless they were really crappy firsts. if they were 2024 and 2026 with light lotto protections from a contender that would have been ideal since they currently have nothing in those drafts. taking him out of the starting lineup shouldn't change his minutes but it's the simplest move that's needed to try to get more consistent offense going. make DFS the first "big" off the bench coming in for either Claxton or Bridges or CJ when they need rest. then in the 'ball handler' spot they should make sure they have at least 2 of Dinwiddie, Cam, Simmons, Curry on the floor pretty much at all times. Oneale, Yuta, Harris, Patty, Summner, Sharpe can fill in where needed around that with Oneale probably the only one getting consistent minutes as the 9th or 10th man since he can flex between those 2 groups as a wing or ball handler.

I want Sumner back for sure.
Dude played so hard on both ends. Its a shame we had to bring in so many role players to take away minutes from guys like Yuta or Sumner.
We needed to trade some of them.
