Of course like any city such as Hartford (where I was born) Flint, MI, or Atlanta, the hookers and drug dealers could be the disgrace as opposed to the professional sports team...
Thats not a knock on those cities...just people need to realize that there are more important things in life than sports

Yea, but this is a sports forum. They are disgrace in the context of sports. Don't go all Tom Glavine on us.

Umm...no. Reyes plays every day. Santana plays once every 5 days. A all-star SS, especially one of Reyes's caliber, especially one who will be dirt cheap (good job by Omar on the extension), shouldn't be traded for anybody, not even Santana.

you obviously havent seen the mets stats when reyes performs and when he doesnt.. hes like 24 hasnt even reached his full potential and already has put up serious numbers and also is a top 3 defensive shortstop in baseball.. reyes slumps, mets collapse, it wasnt long ago just like last september remember we were up like 7 games then reyes started to suck and the whole team fell apart? then we even lost the nl east.. also where is your loyalty to reyes? unbelievable, jus the fact that hes jose f**kin reyes i wouldnt trade him for ANY1 idc what we get.. if reyes and wright both arent ina met uni for the next 8+ years, something is very wrong.. my god we miss the post season and all the sudden you guys wanna trade reyes, beltran.. get the f**k out of here, who plays SS? who plays CF? the 2 most important pos on the field beside pitcher? unbelievable the dumb statement being made after this collapse..

clearly i know the mets are awful when reyes isnt hitting/getting on base. and who said im not loyal..were talking about the best pitcher in baseball when our pitching staff is pretty weak. tejadas always on the block and wouldnt be a bad replacement if we dont have to sell all the farm for johan

For what its worth
I don't want to start a war over whose was worst, but the Yankees lost to the eventual champs in the the Boston Red Sox, and we had a 3 game lead, eventually loosing.
The Mets on the other hand, lost to teams that don't play after October too often, last place teams with barely any pitching. And you guys had a 7 game lead. No offense, but the Marlins, Nats, and Cardinals, and even the Phillies have nothing on Boston, so don't bother to compare the two.

your right abe i didnt say good luck in that post.. i said it in this 1.. and suge im not talking about whos better reyes or jeter.. im stating the simple fact that when you are loyal to a player, you dont trade him, it doesnt matter who your getting, especially when that player already has put up serious numbers.. obviously he hasnt accomplished 1/9999 of jeter, but we are loyal to him, hes home grown, he has his jose chant, hes stealing more bases than every1, hes playing gold glove d, hes scoring 100+runs, hes batting about 290-300 for his met career, hes likable, hes a team player, he takes over games, hes extremely young, he hasnt reached his full potential, he is the mets - when he hits, we win, when he doesnt, well you saw what happend.. you really think wed trade this guy ? idc if we are getting pujols back, hes not going anywhere, hes homegrown, hes a star, we love him just like you love jeter, idc what theyve accomplished once your loyal your loyal.. i wasnt on this forum for 04 but im sure 04 was similar to what the mets are going threw now, prolly worse, i dont mind the sh*t talking, just dont hijack every single thread, especially the ones where im talkin only to met fans and then judge my statements, thats why this is the met forum ive never said anything negative EVER towards the yanks or phils for that matter on those forums..
I wasn't getting on you for not going with the trade, I just wanted to have convo. I'm not going to sit here and flame. I barely post on these boards, theres no baseball for about another 24 hours, and the Mets are all everyone is talking about right now. I understand that YOU may love Reyes, and again, I'm not trying to compare or knock Reyes and Jeter, but Jeter in his 3rd or 4th season, (however long Reyes has been around) never got booed like the way Reyes did Sunday unless he was on a opposing teams field. Yes Reyes is young, yes he is going to be a promising player, without a doubt most likely year in year out MVP candidate. Again, it was just for convo, not to flame. We already know the Mets aren't going to the playoffs, we already know Matsui is thanking the Mets he was traded....we already know this. The Yankees have alot to do before I start talking the way those other guys are. But to be honest, these guys talking like that probably are frontrunner Yankee fans anyway.

With a one year leash for both Minaya and Randolph likely I dont see that happening. We still have Milledge, Gomez and Martinez as our OF's for the future. We would trade one of them before we trade Beltran for Santana. Also the Twins wouldn't be able to afford Beltran.
Whoever gets Santana is going to have to give up a load of prospects to get him.
