Get a high draft pick from the poor win/loss record playing without Conley, along with a first rounder? or promising younger players for Conley. But I am having a lot of fun watching the Jazz win heart stopper games! I am also hoping Sexton and NAW are learning some things from Conley. Go Jazz!

Another possible way: Hope Minnesota keeps struggling and strike gold with a top ten pick from Minnesota.

IMO tanking is for losers. The Jazz just won back-to-back games against the Conference leaders so they certainly are not a trash team.

I hope they try and go as far as they can. Their might just be able to prolong their cinderella run.

As an objective fact treadmilling strategies creates losers who perpetually stay losers. Not tanking because some Id driven personalties get off on meaningless victories would be a terrible strategy for long time success.

Respectfully, in your opinion, name teams that have succesfully tanked to make themselves a serious contender.

Phoenix tanked/non playoff team 2011-2019 are now top team in west.
Denver tanked 2015-2018 2nd team in west.
Memphis tanked and got JJJ and Morant.
New Orleans tanked and got Zion, and got benefit of the Lakers tank for AD.

Boston got the Nets tank players in Tatum and Brown.
Milwaukee tanked for years were a lottery team got Giannis by luck, if you look a 20 years of drafting before that no player like him fell that low again. Jokic went in 2nd, Gobert when 27th so you couldn't have predicted them.
Cleveland tanked since Lebron left and built a awesome team.
Brooklyn is the an anomaly if you can get Durant and Irving to come in free agency, but no one is coming to the Jazz.

Who on this Jazz team do you consider a star or franchise player? Also what is your idea or proposal to get star players to build around?

Malik Beasley gives you 80% of what Zach LaVine can do at third of the cost, and isn't "unhappy" about a role that fits his talents. LaVine's ticket to greatness was his combination of elite athleticism and smooth, high-release jumper, but his lack of BB IQ has set a ceiling for him at both ends of the court. Now he may never recover that ultra-athlete level again after 2 serious knee injuries, and you really do not want to pay him 40+ million while watching Lauri walk away in disgust.

Forget him. He's always unhappy and the reason for his unhappiness always relates to his team mates, the coach, the management etc.

As 1st option, he will never make any team a contender.

Thanks for the list! In the grand scheme of things IMO that's a pretty short one, plus those teams that have tanked specifically to get the 1st overall pick haven't really enjoyed much of success. In fact, many 1st overall picks have turned into pretty average players considering the hype prior draft day.

I hold to my opinion that tanking doesn't belong to pro sports and success wise it doesn't guarantee anything. It's lottery although you may argue that in the long run it improves your odds of hitting the jack pot which is fine.

I'm surprised you're asking me that. I've always thought my avatar is a dead giveaway.

That's a tough question. Many high paid GM's work on that on daily basis and all of them do not succeed.

To me it seems a more logical to try your hand with the team's current MVP who is putting up insane stats. He may well be the next Nowitzki who by the way won his 1st and only championship in this 13th season. Building a team needs time and patience.

Two months later I dare say Markkanen is as good option as anyone. Any counter arguments why the Jazz couldn't build around him?

I'll go out on a limb and put forward an idea that we're at a point where alone the chance to play next to Markkanen might lure some good prospect or veteran to sign with us. An All-Star and a strong MIP candidate looks good on the team's resume and Kessler on top of that...

Even if Lauri tops out as a 1B, if you can find another 1B on the trade market then you can build contender. I was hoping for Trae but with the Quin hiring, it’s probably not going to happen. Does Jaylen Brown become available? Maybe Luka if Dallas falls apart? Bridges this summer if Brooklyn decides to value picks? Or do Sexton and Ochai put it together this summer? Along with Kessler becoming a 36% 3PT shooter on 5 attempts?
Ingles is cooked.
