Game 61: Bucks at Nets - 2/28/23 - 6:30 - BSWI - Giannis Probable

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Feb 27, 2023 1:37 pm

Two sets of B2B this week, Tuesday/Wednesday and Saturday/Sunday. Road/Home and Home/Road. I won't even try to speculate who will play and who will sit in these games. We're rolling right now and I'd like to see our whole team out there. But I doubt that will happen in all 4 of these games.

The Nets are struggling since the break. Blown out by Chicago and losing to Atlanta. Simmons has been out although he may play in this one. They have some good players, they'll likely figure it out at some point . And ending the longest winning streak in the league this season is certainly extra motivation.

Let's keep it going.

If the streak ends I completely blame the Haslam news for ruining the good vibes.

I'm not sure if you're joking but some people will definitely do this and be completely serious if we lose a couple games.

Nah, since it was reported he was likely to buy out Lasry we haven't lost a game. Anyway, let's talk about the ownership change in the other thread.

Really interested in seeing how we handle B2B as the the season winds down. One way or another need to get Khris up to 30 MPG.

Can't imagine we see Giannis at the earliest until Saturday, but then would be out again on Sunday for B2B

Jae & Bobby could not have become available at a better time

Yeah I don't see a way he's not playing against Philly.

2 B2B in a week is just so lame these days. Looking ahead Kind of bummed the 3rd B2B is Suns/Kings, that could have been fun but probably won't be.

Would be nice if Gianni plays tomorrow and Wednesday so we can start seeing what we look like with the key players on the court. Gotta start getting used to some extended minutes. Although I'm expecting him back Saturday against Philly.

If you want something that'll really piss you off, the Bucks-Celtics game a month from now which could very well be the single most consequential game of the NBA regular season is a Bucks road/home b2b

I trump you with the B2B in Denver after traveling from Utah... Both games between the 2 MVP's are the 2nd of a B2B. Terrible scheduling :noway:  :nonono: :banghead:

Because when Giannis hoists the trophy after four playoff series sweeps, I would discover that I inadvertently sold my soul to the devil by carelessly clicking on a popup ad from satan.com.

Let's take the way-back machine all the way to <checks coordinates> last year? This was posted on Al Gore's internet on Feb 10, 2022 they just let anybody put anything up there it's wild

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/james-harden-ben-simmons-trade-grades-76ers-increase-title-hopes-now-nets-outlook-gets-much-brighter/

But given the struggles that are likely to come with integrating Simmons, surviving without Joe Harris and rotating Irving in and out of the lineup, the Nets have probably relinquished their status as 2022 championship favorites. But, dear lord, their 2022-23 team stands to be among the best on-paper rosters in NBA history.

<Omar Little voice> Oh, do tell.

Nets built their original star trio of Harden, Irving and Durant around the idea that having the greatest offense in NBA history would give them enough of a cushion to survive with a below-average defense. Well, with Simmons serving as an extra playmaker and transition engine alongside all of that shooting, they might still be able to muster one of the greatest offenses in NBA history. They're just pairing it with a significantly better defense. There are a number of "ifs" here relating to health and availability, but the Nets should enter next season as fairly strong championship favorites.

Word?

There are still questions to be answered with this roster, but the Nets have among the brightest short- and long-term outlooks in basketball moving forward so long as Durant can stay healthy and Irving is willing and able to be a full-time player.

Life it do arrive con mucho velocity.

It makes one pine for the sober analysis of Jiri (sp?) Woffle (sp?).

That game's not even nationally televised (it is on a Saturday during the NCAA Tournament). We're kinda approaching this from slightly different vantage points. I think, and correct me if I'm mischaracterizing you, that you're approaching this more from a macro position of putting Jokic-Giannis on a b2b is stupid and that's true regardless of anything else. But while Bucks-Celtics is among the most marquee matchups in the league and its absolutely foreseeable that them playing late in the season could have significant consequences, its very much within the realm of possibility that this game could decide home court not just in the East but throughout the playoffs.

It's a road/home B2B for Celtics too, but the Bucks game is on the front end for them.

Not surprisingly, right now the Celtics and Bucks have the two best records in the league playing the second night of back to backs. 8-1 for Boston, 6-1 for Milwaukee.
