Ummm we forgot to ask how much they are making? It's all about the benjamins as some of them would say.

Meh, I'd be surprised if the money was so good that a player would toy with their professional future by risking it all on the OTE. I think there's more to it. Certainly, the backers behind OTE may well be lobbying their guys heavily on the Mockiverse...
I listened to the Magic Mavs guy on Vecenie's podcast, and he said he phone calls after he mocked Ausar 14th. He wasn't trying to make a scandal over it.

This is the issue here. Some of them can't think beyond the initial 500k( at least for GL with Green/Kuminga) over what they will make in their 2nd/3rd contract.

I wonder what the incentives are to influence the mockverse. Does the mockverse influence NBA scouts? I mean they 100% influence a fan like me but I'm not associated with any process that translates to their bottom line so I don't see why they'd care.

They have access to prospects and stories. A lot of politics go on with mocks. I've heard of money being offered to mock a player higher before.

If a few mocks rank a player high, the rest fall in line.

The tank race is getting real. Detroit has 4 starters out against the Hornets tonight  (Ivey, Bogdanovic, Stuart, and Duren)

Wasnt there an ESPN/ ringer article about this? Im not sure where i read it before bit it explained the reason why these kids *people* want their player to be mocked as high as possible.

OKC is not playing well, the Magic is virtually certain to catch Indiana, with the James injury, the Lakers could really fall hard, and I cannot trust the Bulls to find wins.

There is a scenario where the Magic fail to make the play-ins AND rises to the 11th worst team.

The Spurs is on a 16 game losing streak, with the Rockets at a 9 game losing streak. Now that Ball is out, the worst four teams in the league might find 5 wins between them over their ~80 games left to play.

Fans pay money to watch these games. This is shameless.

Both Houston and Spurs tradition is tied with HOF centers.
From David Robinson & Duncan to Hakeem.

Also both team haven't sucked in last...30 years or so? Their fanbases can take it.

How many prospects with size, elite athleticism, guard skills, high productivity, defensive motors, with poor shooting, flame out? Plus it seems like they have good characters and high work ethic. I'm intrigued and could see Amen giving Scoot a run for his money as the best PG in this draft and Ausar giving Keyonte a run for his money as the best SG in this draft.
Quite a bit flame out. If you can't shoot, you probably aren't going to make it. They are tall but don't look like they have plus wingspan.

They are also older than Paolo

I think they're shorter versions of Cam Reddish.

Edit: they are 1.5 months younger than Paolo.

Why are they in such a crappy league? I have heard the league has tons of NBA investors but right now it's a detriment to their evaluations. Sophomore in college age men playing against high schoolers is not a good look

It's an interesting point, and it might be psychological. Fans and apparently NBA GMs like the mystery box. Do you want this sack of $10,000 or do you want to see what's in the box?

I wonder if this is playing into the calculation by these teenagers agents. Wiseman...a terrible pick at the time...still a mystery box, not entirely his choice. Shaedon Sharpe...mystery box. These kids with holes in their games are choosing/taking paths that either show themselves in a good light....or don't expose their weaknesses.

For all the problems with the NCAA, it still has a good chunk of the best basketball players on the planet. The G League is strong, but are showcasing Ignite kids, and some European leagues are like really good, and most are better than NCAA.

I haven't been following this thread that closely, maybe discussed before, but I was just looking at Brandon Miller's BPM, and then looked at the leaders, Zach Edey killing it.

22/13 with 2.4 blocks at 7'4"

I hate bigs, especially traditional, but we could do worse than Edey if he is available at our 2nd round pick. He probably gets a lot of hype with Purdue being so high in rankings, but looking for him now, looks like most mock drafts have him late 2nd

Newest mock draft:

5. Jarace Walker
7. Nick Smith

I really come around on Nick Smith Jr.
If he is really healthy i hope Weltman takes him

Yeah, I've mentioned him a couple of times. He's absolutely my 2nd round pick right now.

These mocks crack me up. Edey will go top 15.

7-4, 300 lbs, leading the country in rebounding. 5th in scoring. 12th in blocks.

He can shoot jump hooks with either hand and is not afraid to get a little roughed up.

He isn't Shaq, but he isn't George Muresan either.

He is a good athlete. Plays hockey with some pretty nice skate skills for his size.

Throws a nice fastball in baseball.

He will go top 15 and will be a bargain.
