Raptors should waive Bo and sign Barton. He can't be worse than Hernangomez.

We may actually see the first effective buyout guy this season.

You can tell who watched Barton and who watched highlights in this thread. He has great highlights, but I hope he gets nowhere near the Nuggets again.

Really? My impression was he was solid for Denver. I actually thought he'd go back there if bought out...

Before the injuries he was a borderline starter, after the injuries started piling up he was almost unplayable the last couple of years. Many advanced stats had him as the worst starter in the league last season, and it showed. Yet he insisted on starting and our coaching staff allowed it to keep the peace in the locker room.

He does have a handful of supporters, including Tim Connelly, who the local reporters have come out and said that when he left they knew Barton was gone. Connelly reportedly was his protector ensuring he was starting and given minutes.

One of them may hit! TRoss may have a game in the playoffs(had a good one the other night), Barton could have a game, Russ could have 1. Love, maybe. Likely all will be much more bad than good but usually it’s absolutely nothing.

I would love for the people's champ to make a return. But realistically, Portland needs a big. They only have one healthy player taller than 6'7".

We chose to buy him out because we wanted to convert Jordan Goodwin to a standard NBA deal. To be fair to Jordan, he looks like he could really make it as a rotational NBA player, but with respect to Will Barton’s (lack of) value, our owner has made it clear he wants us in the playoffs. An organization that looks to be a play-in squad with aspirations to succeed removed him from the rotation and decided that their team is better off without him.

I can’t see why fans of teams with much higher ceilings and aspirations want this guy on their team.

I was never big on him in the first place. Some Blazers fans got a little hype because he had a good first game, but that came crashing back down to earth by game 2.

He had good stretches, but he didn't have a good season last year. He's a very frustrating player to watch as he just seems to make a lot of bad decisions and overrate his own abilities (especially the kind of shots he should be taking). He'd often play like he was the 1b offensive option and it killed the flow of Denver's offense. He does generate his own shot, but he's just not that efficient at it for his usage rate and he isn't great at creating for others.

He was he player that I yelled at through my screen most last year watching Denver, but I did think he would find a role as a second unit player on a team that needed someone who could generate their own shot. I think I underestimated how much of his successful offense was less the part he created himself and more the part that came from playing with Jokic.

He would start immediately on the Lakers with Bron out.
