Wood is basically poor men's Whiteside with no defense. Zero mental skills.

Wood was atrocious on defense. Even on offense he **** find ways to be #1 loser out there.
Anytime a game is tight, Wood is turning the ball over. His awareness is at all-time lows. On defense he is a worse defender than Kyrie-Luka. And unfortunately he plays Center...

No one is paying him $100m in the summer. Rockets couldn't find a trade for him a whole year. Then traded for some late 1st round pick and salary dump. No one thought Wood is good to have even at his $13m/year deal.

Now it became too obvious. Wood may not get a 4-year deal at all. And his rate at $13m/year did not produce much for any team. Dont expect it to go up to $25m/year. Atrocious defense, bad teammate/stat padder, terrible with every coach he works with.

His agent seems to think he's worth Jerami Grant money. To which I would wish them good luck.

His agent must be one of generic Mavs fans.
Jerami Grant is probably a top 10 defender for his position. Great teammate. corrected. Good with coaches.
Wood's offense does not matter when he cannot even defend at Boban level.

NO MAS Powell...for the love of god...he's terrible...and Justin Holliday starting ...WTF

Luka, Kai, Green or Reggie(depends on matchup), Wood, McGee( no Powell, with Maxi quickly subbing in and finishing the games) should be the lineup

I don't know why they keep Green if his spot is 20minutes from the bench... Then it was better trade him.

We are in march and out coach didn't yet figure out the rotations. Just pathetic.

Its really odd to see all these negative Wood posts. Just a week ago we were being told how great he is.

Said it a million times the dude isn't a difference maker and will end up being paid by a losing team. Gifted offensively but little D and low BBIQ.

He really shouldn't even be discussed anymore at this point regardless if you think this is his fault or the teams as his days a Mav are numbered.

The remaining games should be a dry run tp see jow the team performs. The missing pieces will be filled in when THJ and Bertans vacates or dies whichever comes first.

Think nobody here thinked that Wood is a difference maker, he is an elite offensive player with mediocre defense and low BBQI.
He is not Anthony Davis. Its pretty clear.
He can be our Bobby Portis from the bench, but our problems that we have not Giannis and Lopez ahead of him.

But he is better than Powell in EVERY aspect of the game (except cheerleading probably).

Whether you like Wood or dislike Wood, he has talent, in a team devoid of it (before the Kyrie trade), and I think Kidd really mismanaged him as an asset, it's pretty obvious to me really, as it is obvious he let other player get away with much more than him.

Dosn't matter anymore. He is probably mentally done at this point with Kidd. Apparently there was something between him and the coach and understandably so. He had to fight for minutes with freaking Powell and McGee when Mavs were still winning and he played great at that time. I would completely agree with people if Mavs had any other great center on the team other than those two.

I'm only afraid something similar will happen with Green soon aswell. He's a fighter and brings probably even more energy and effort to the team than DFS did, but he's back in the doghouse for some stupid reason.

Kidd can go. Kyrie is ok but not trustworthy enough long term for a 4 year max deal. Surround Doncic with 3&D guys going forward.

This game is the coaching difference. Rick gets the best from the players. The Pacers players beside Turner are not known for the defense at all. But Pacers gets key stop big time. Kidd just watches game again like random fans.

Dallas needs to steal Greg Popovich from San Antonio.

Nets fan here----Dallas, much like the Nets last year and even this year, have either traded or lost players which in turn affects the play and chemistry of a team. I am not a fan of Kyrie because of his ability to go AWOL at any given time. Dallas has VERY little time to figure this out and they have to do it fast, this is reminiscent of when Kyrie was finally able to play home games last year and Boston beat us handily because we underestimated continuity; you cannot build continuity when players are not playing consistently and/or the line ups are always changing. If Brunson stays in Dallas, and Kyrie came with him here, you guys would be a lot more formiddable since he would just be a plug piece.

Doncic+Brunson sorrounded with 3&D guys were destroyed by GSW. Destroyed.
That's no the path for win. Fact.

First Luka and Kyrie need time, in 5games you can't build a chemistry.
Second the Kyrie trade was a CLEAR move, clean the sheet and trade our vets.
Next summer we will makes other moves for sure(i hope Kidd too).

This year is gone when we lost Brunson and wrong all the off season.
We said it a lot of times, they can't fix this roster in a TDL.

I wonder who Luka was talking to the Pacers bench?

Carlisle also at the end seemed to be taunting someone in the crowd.

These games have sucked... but they've "only" been a made shot away from winning 2-3 of them. Kyrie in particular has missed when we probably would expect him to make.

1:53 Mavericks Kyrie Irving misses 23-foot three point jumper 122 - 120 :nonono:

There's still a decent chance that this team will find consistency.

Oh well, back to depression.

Finally a good podcast from Locked on guys, I think Nick hit the nail on the head, the team lacks leadership, Luka isn't a leader and Kidd sure as hell isn't.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Return to Dallas Mavericks
