A perfectly fine debate between Gianni and Jokic.

This a good discourse.

I do find it really annoying how for like the past decade people have been drooling over net rating and on/off splits, but rotations and time spent with the other best players has never really entered the popular discourse.

I’m going off memory here, so I’ll double check these numbers, but curry during that 15/16 season spent 80% of his minutes with klay and draymond. Lebron, when on the heat, typically spent around 75% of his minutes with Wade and bosh, Jokic I believe has also been around 75%.

Giannis has been at like 50-60% under Bud.

With that, I’m glad the main host brought it up. It’s also not to outright dismiss the stat. Yeah, if Jokic is plus 16 with his best guys, and Gianni’s is plus 10 - that’s a gap and noteworthy, but it’s closer than it’s generally being talked about.

I also find it somewhat funny that after the host brought up the staggering thing, that the nuggets guy threw out the on-off data and then leaned on the raw net rating for Jokic, which still presents much of the same issue that the host pointed out. Yes, it’s the best of the group, but it’s also with a vast majority of his minutes with his best teammates - pivot to talking about net rating with starters then, which I believe Jokic leads in. Actually acknowledge the argument.

What I like is that the guy championing Jokic at least acknowledges that Gianni is in the race and right there. Go over to the General Board and that MVP thread has turned into a cesspool.

Mitchell agreed with him in the same interview. So why not both?

I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but as of Nov 1st 2022 Giannis grew 1 inch:

6-11 3/4 in socks would generally lead to a 7-1 listing.

The tension with Giannis walking everything back is what actually makes the bit.

"Yeah, I'm ready."
"OK, read it off."
"Chonestown, you are very good poster. I have a lot of respect for your game..."
"Arrrgggghhh, you're supposed to say "Chones, you are wack, you post about pants too much.imo..."
"I cannot do that, I respect his game."

Same here, family coming from Greece, so I get the goofball humor.

The Durant stans meltdowns are incredible lmao. If we win again I need Giannis to go full Conor in the finals MVP speech

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/35757469/bucks-antetokounmpo-continues-give-everything-have

"That's the bad thing," Antetokounmpo said. "When I went back home and I told my significant other 'I'm hurting,' she's like, 'Ahh, you'll be all right, because you never get hurt.' I feel like when I'm hurting, people don't take me serious. But as I've said, we had a good conversation before this, for me to leave a game which I usually never do, I'm in pain. But at the end of the day, whatever I have to give, I try to give. That's all I can do."

"Right now, I know I have to put myself in a position to be healthy," he said. "Because I'm a religious guy, I really believe that -- when I hit knees with [Mike] Muscala, that was my first warning, then the Chicago game, I maybe [was] not supposed to play, but my stubborn said, 'No, I want to compete.' And I hit my hand, that's the second warning from God. And then the third warning he said maybe you stay [off] a few games and you should not be playing this game. I'm like, 'Nope. I want to play this game because I love it, I'm obsessed with the game of basketball.' And I hurt my knee again. That's the third warning, now I have to listen."

I believe Giannis has talked previously about having a sports pysch coach(?), is there a connection to his family for mental health or just a good cause he supports?

Giannis had a panic attack during one of the Finals games, the "I had to go pee pee" game when he was subbed out 2 minutes in

He admitted how much seeing someone has helped him and I think he's just trying to get others help too

He's just the best dude there is

It's always tough to know with public personalities how much is genuine and how much is for the reputation. There's not doubt about how real Giannis is. If I had children, he's the type of guy I'd be happy to have them look up to.

He's a special dude. And thanks to his example, it's permeated throughout the organization. I'm unfamiliar with the owners, but Horst and Bud (and their staffs) appear to be good people. All the guys on the roster appear to be decent people as well, if you watch those behind-the-scenes vids that the team puts out. These guys actually care about each other.
