Post#2 » by bisme37 » Tue Feb 28, 2023 4:51 pm

This was the East schedule breakdown post Allstar break, so it's a few days old now. But Celts and Bucks have a pretty similar road ahead.

The opponent winning percentage is almost identical. We have more road games. But they have more back to backs which is probably the bigger challenge.

Also we are apparently playing a number of teams that are good on offense but bad on defense.

Spoiler:
H | R = Home and road
B2B = Back-to-backs
RA, RDA = Rest-advantage, Rest-disadvantage games
OppPCT = Cumulative opponent winning percentage
.500+ = Games vs. the 15 teams currently over .500
OppO = Games against teams currently in the top 10 and bottom 10 in offensive efficiency
OppD = Games against teams currently in the top 10 and bottom 10 in defensive efficiency
RED = Toughest; BLUE = Easiest

Last year's series vs Bucks... the road team actually won most of the games. But then home court was big for us in Game 7. So I dunno.

Yeah I think they want the 1 seed, but I think if you gave Brad truth serum, he probably would say he prioritizes health over it and would settle for the 2 seed at least. 3 seed wouldn't be great.

#1 seed may not be a huge concern, but I'd want to avoid Miami in rd 1, that's a good old fashion bar brawl waiting to happen!

Nets were up 10 at half, then Bucks dominated the second half. FIFTEEN straight for the Bucks

I think this season the Bucks may push juuust a bit more for the #1 seed than last season. I don't think we're afraid of a road game 7, but I think it'd be nice not to have a brutal second round series against you guys or Philly. Philly is a step below us but certainly no pushover. Nor is Cleveland, I suppose. The home stretch is going to be fascinating. Kind of annoying the next game between us has the Bucks on a second game of a B2B with Indiana, but c'est la vie. I think the #1 seed is going to come down to the 3/30 Thursday night showdown

They're definitely going to. For one, they can't lose right now and they won't try to ruin that momentum and two, they won't want to take the chance of having to come to Boston for a Game 7. Not the exact same personnel, sure, but they're 0-2 in road Game 7s in Boston in the past decade.

I think Milwaukee respects the Celtics enough at this point to push hard for #1, I don't know that for a fact but just my hunch

You may be right. Both teams won on each other's court. I think in, what seems to be, the eventual ECF both teams are prioritizing health. But I'm sure they're both thinking "shyt, let them have to deal with Philly in Round 2."

IMO from the Celtics perspective PHI and CLE are about equal 2nd round opponents. It's HCA in the ECF that will matter, and as much as we often think 'game 7' for that, I think of games 1, 2, and 5 just as much or more.

Yeah, I was hoping to see the main cast playing.

Here's to hoping we get 7 games with everybody healthy in May.

So basically the way it's looking is.:

If we should fall to the #2 seed in the East.
We'll still have Homecourt Advantage over the West. (Should and when we make it that far.)

Hi GoCeltics123,

As opposed to handling this particular ‘down the stretch’ schedule/seeding thread JOINTLY as we have for multiple recent years, I am counting on you this year to handle it solo.
Too busy & other reasons as well.

I plan to post randomly in this thread when appropriate - as opposed to my obsessively detailed daily posts in past years.

Good luck!
Thanks!

My prediction at the start of the season was that we would be the 2nd seed. I really hope I'm wrong though. Need every advantage we can get against the bucks. I don't see any other team beating us in a 7 game series. It's us or them IMO.
