Overall... Our team pretty much sucks right now except for watching Dame go for 40+. It feel like the team and roster are still in such flux, so I'll wait til next summers' end, to give grades to Cronin and Chauncey. What I do know is Simons at the SG with Dame looks as bad as it ever has, and I'm convinced now Simons needs to be 6th-man to break up the two. Especially considering our roster that's full of Wings, a future of Simons leading a second unit with the talelnted bench we should have next year... we could be really good.
If we could just get a Center that has the gifts of Nurkic, combined with the smarts and hustle of a Eubanks, we will be much better, but many have agreed we haven't had a quality big since LA12. It's what this team is sorely missing, and is the far bigger problem than the Dame / Simons pairing. Whether Cronin's team can properly address these problems over the summer will remain a mystery I guess, but I do like the direction and change from having three sub 6'4 players in the starting lineup just a short time ago.
I think Cronin has a load of assets to work with, espcially if we miss the playoffs, so I expect him to fix the Center position. How, I have no clue. But I beleive a good GM will pick the target he wants, then figure out how to get him. Eubanks I love for about 20 minutes, and I'd be happy if we had Winslow healthy to pair with Watford at the 4, not having a good Nurkic and Winslow is killing any chance for this season.

Re: Our Roster of Players
Portland indeed hasn't replaced LA and the failure of Zach Collins just killed Dame's chances at
playing on playoff caliber teams. Nurk hasn't been the same player ever since he broke his leg.
I don't know what they do for unless they win the lottery for Victor, its hard to see another quality
big in the 2023 draft for this draft seems filled with 6-7 guys and adding one of these guys to Jerami
Grant doesn't solve Portland's need for a big. If only we had found a way to add Grant and had the
late lottery pick to be in position to draft one of Mark Williams, Kessler, Duren for the 2022 draft
had lots of bigs that could have helped Portland.
Right now, I'd settle for a PF type that can at least compete in modern day NBA. Portland will be actively
searching for the 2023 version of Jeremy Sochan in this draft. They need to figure out what this team
needs to win with Dame/Grant (assuming he signs). Portland with Dame, Grant and Ant has guys who
can score plenty of points but needs that grinder, a guy who will do for Dame what Buck Williams did for
Clyde's teams that played for championships

Re: Our Roster of Players
Besides winning the lottery the only solution for a short term fix that I can see is if Anthony Davis asks out of LA. He and Dame are somewhat close.
Simons, Sharpe, Nurkic and picks for Davis creates a contender for a couple of years but you're banking on AD's health. Assuming guys get resigned/extended:
PG: Dame, Keon
SG: Thybulle, Reddish
SF: Little, Winslow
PF: Grant, Watford
C: Davis, Eubanks
I guess if I squint just right and we get some lucky bounces that team could contend

I'd never trade Sharpe plus picks for Davis. His health is too questionable. It'd have to be either one or the other.

Re: Our Roster of Players
I would see what Simons, our FRP (Likely 7-10), the NYK FRP and future picks could snag on the trade market. I dont like moving SS, see him as the 6th man next year and a 15ppg guy with 25ppg potential.
I wish Miami didnt already have Tyler. I dont see them being interested in Simons w/ Herro on the roster. If they didnt have him, I beet we could at least get Miami on the phone for a Simons, PDX FRP, NYK FRP, future picks/swaps for Butler type deal. Would offer the same for Bam, but the Herro / Simons redundancy issue remains.
I still like buying low on Isaac. Simons + Nurkic for WCJ + JI is a move I would make.

If Cronin felt that Davis is THE Target, this would trade would be sexy as ever for Portland, and could make us legit contenders for a couple years, if injuries don't become an issue. It would also be super-smart by LA to do it, for a post Bron era, as the Lakers would be nicely built for a long future of kicking our azzes. Sexy for us, but not smart IMO.
What I need to see us do, is get the next Brow or LA or Williams(who I'd still offer a huge ransom for). The draft doesn't look like the answer, so I would hope to consider using our two firsts this year with Nurkic, to get a major upgrade. Dream scenario would be for Davis to request a trade and state that he most wants to come to Portland and team up with Dame. Then we wouldn't need to include giving the Lakers our future stars. Point being, I don't want to offer Simons and/or Sharpe unless it's returning a near guarantee at the finals, and would prefer a more patient approach.
Again, Love the Dame / Simons pairing but feel it's best for the team to have Simons as 6th man next season and likely the next after that, but as Dame ages, eventually swap the two. Have a changing of the guard at some point. At guard and forward (Wings) we are loaded, we just need help down low.
Next season, something like this:
Dame / Simons / Keon
MaThrees / Little
Grant / Sharpe / Reddish
Winslow / Watford / Walker
??? / Eubanks
USE THIS YEARS FRPs, plus 2ND ROUDERS, plus a FUTURE FRP if needed, along with NURK's SALARY... and SOLVE FOR ???(Nurkic's corpse). My personal dream would be to way over-pay for Mark Williams, but admitidly doubt that ship hasn't sailed. But he is THE guy IMO and I'd offer up whatever available assets it took to get THE guy, or ??? Cronin just needs to do the same: Identify THE guy, and go get 'em.

Isaac is out for the year again, I don't understand the obsession.

Am I the only one who, after having a few games of Thybulle and Cam, starts to think that locking an absolutely mediocre role player who can't stay even healthy throughout the season, that Nassir Little is, early for a 4-year taxpayer MLE money was actually a dubious idea?

Re: Our Roster of Players ???
I hope that Thybulle and Reddish accept Nasir type deals. I actually like both players, but I don't want to keep overpaying for role players. Reddish has the perfect size at SF, Thybulle plays the right way. IDK I feel like the market won't be too high for those guys, so unless Cronin bids against himself we can lock up a couple of rotation guys.

One of the biggest Cam fans around. But not only does he have to prove he can keep this type of play up while improving, he has to also prove he can stay healthy.
But I like Little for what he is, especially on a team with two small one way guards as their best players. He's also a nice trade piece at that price - can definitely play against 2nd stringers and do serious damage once in a while. He's only 23.
Plus, at least you're not paying $20 mil for Hart.(as much as I like the guy, he's not worth it-- at least not for this team anyway )
