Game threads are a joke. Best to avoid them.

Thanks for the advice Dr. Phil. Go back to your Bradley Beal shrine. :)

DCZards does have a point. The ratio of bad hot takes in the first half on game threads is pretty high, with some of us pissed if we’re winning and the rest pissed if we’re losing. As the resident calm big picture stable guy I can see why he wouldn’t like em.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

It's a live game thread, on a basketball forum for fans, are hot takes not to be expected just like they are in all mediums for viewing and interacting with sports? I suppose people could just watch games stoically and with hindsight, sounds like a lot of fun...

I lot of the "hot takes" in this particular thread were about Beal having a bad game and Kuzma taking too many shots, are either of those two untrue of this game?

At the very least, game threads are less biased and more civilized than say the Politics Thread. :)

Beal had a game similar to one when he was a pre-all star with John Wall- 3/4 from 3 point range but only 2/11 from his other shots- Beal had 3 free throw attempts (and I believe one of them came when he got a technical free throws). Beal and Kuzma probably could have seen a few more free throws but the officials often let a lot of contact go- on the Harlem globetrotter's sequence it looked like Kuzma could have ended up at the line - although it worked both ways as Deni got away with a foul.

Beal did a good job contesting 3s. According to NBA.com Raptors only shot 20% from 3 on 10 3 point attempts where Beal was the defender. He did a good job running off some 3 point shots. BTW, opponents shot 0% when Deni was defending the 3 on 3 attempts.

I also liked the sequence where Beal and KP worked off of each other. KP struggled to get position on Fred Van Vleet and kicked out to Beal with around 5 seconds left in the shot clock. Beal correctly gave it back to KP who succeeded in hitting an easy post up jumper. Going into the timeout, KP seemed grateful to Beal for making the correct basketball play.

The final sequence of the game, I thought it was interesting that Beal seemed to go Nick Nurse first seemingly realizing that Nurse had drawn up a really good game plan to slow down Beal.

Sorry if I ruffled feathers with my hot takes comment! Of course this is an open forum and live opinions are what make it great. (As are opinions on those live takes, but I’m trying to be conciliatory here) As a reader more than poster I truly appreciate everyone here. As is obvious I have the choice to argue against or not read the posts I think are over the top. Not trying to change anyone, not that I could.

This team is one higher level starting PG away from being a real threat.

I think it’s one quality two way wing away from being a threat. Wright is one of the most impactful players in the league at the guard position. If they traded up to get Wagner in the draft, that would’ve been a home run, or even flipped Kuzma to Phoenix for Cam Johnson.

I don't think the team is one player away from being a contender at all, unless that one player is someone like Giannis or Tatum. I think the Wizards are kinda meh across the board. There is no single position of such weakness that the addition of an above average starter in that spot would turn the tide much.

If you replace Morris with, say, Jrue Holiday, sure the team is better, but they're not an actual contender. They're just Knicks/Heat tier good. Same thing if you replaced Kuzma with a quality two-way wing like Anunoby.
