The way the first option is written, I can tell you're not a fan of signing FVV easily. Try to hide your biases better next time
Nobody who's for signing FVV is going to give him "whatever he wants". He'll just ask for a max contract btwn 55-60+mil a yr
I'd be open to signing him btwn 30-35 mil, potentially up to 37.5 mil

I think it's as simple as sign FVV - let harris walk. Keep Bol but upgrade his minutes with a lights out shooter.
FVV is shooting 33% from 3 this year. Pretty much a chucker. For twice the price of Harris, I dunno about that. If anything, Neither are the option.
we all know this is a bad year for FVV. but it looks very much like an outlier and dealing with an injury. If the doctors say its simple and would be fine after rest this summer, i wouldnt have a problem with it.

But only if Fultz is traded.
FVV, Cole
xxx, Suggs/Houstan
Franz, xxx/Houstan
Paolo, JI/Bol
Carter, JI/Mo
I just hate that I know Orlando will go with option #1 considering that’s the only way they land free agents, by massively overpaying guys with 1 good contract left.
This is a scenario where, for example, Fultz could bring in Luke Kennard. Having a sharp-shooter next to VanVleet would create a lot of space for F-Wagner and Banchero.

No. Just no.
Mayyyyyyyyyyyyyybe if you were getting the FVV from a few years ago based solely on his offensive production. But he's not the answer or right fit for this team.
Just because a girl is single doesn't mean you have to ask her out.

I also think FVV will benefit significantly from not having to shoulder such a crazy minutes burden too. Lower his minutes a bit and hopefully increase his effectiveness.
He's basically played 37-38 MPG for four straight years.
There's no way he'd approach that here.

Depends, is the girl a clear upgrade over current girl?

Not sure you can qualify this one for a girl. She's premenopause. 6 years older on a new 4-5 year deal. Gray hair and saggy titties are right around the corner.

One is hot 30 that got a little fat after second child, but she was fit quickly after the first one while the other one is 25, living with parents and just forgot how to write after trying to be a writer without much success for the last 6 years, her parents pay her bills but they said already its the last year.

Re: Fred Vanfleet in the summer?
I don't doubt that FVV is better than any guard on our team and would instantly make us better. But what's the actual value of FVV on the open market? Is he truly worth $30 million a year as the 15-18th best starting point guard in the league?

I think it's better to rank point guards in tiers rather than 1 by 1 because there's not alot seperating the ones in the teens.
He's a plus on both sides of the ball and wouldn't require us to have to "hide him on defense" while providing great floor spacing.
Also we're in a circumstance where overpaying is the unfortunate outcome regardless. We either use this money, or it disappears in rookie extensions. We can't save money in this scenario, just lose it
He's the best value for a need position that's available, and why we're going hard at him

I'm all for Trent. I think he will retain value throughout his contract. Fred Van Winkle is FA filler. We've spent money when we've had it on bad contracts before and he'll just be another Fournier/Harris/Gordon contract that will help us win, but not contend... before ultimately looking to trade him... hoping that someone will be attracted to his declining contract.

i get it....but at least he's somewhat tangible....instead of hoping on a disgruntled star that may or may not become available because i'm looking around and that star player isn't on the market at this point
