This is great because I was just thinking I wanted to moderate a thread about Kendrick Perkins' thoughts on race.

I don't think Nash's and Nowitzki race was ever brought when they won their MVP titles, I know many people were calming that Nash didn't deserve his second one which I disagreed but the race was never the issue, how time has changed with all this woke garbage that is propagated on tv daily in the last 10 years.

Jokic was top 10 in PPG and total points in both the 21 and 22 seasons. Dirk tied for 10th in PPG and was top 5 in total points in 2007.

I didn’t care if the Nuggets won the whole thing this year, but now I’m pulling for them.

I don't think he should have won it last year based entirely on criteria they didn't give it to Curry the year before. This year? The Nuggets are healthy and firing on all cylinders. Aaron Gordon has also been a borderline all star. But it seems no matter what anyone else is doing (Giannis, Embiid), Jokic has the narrative on his side overwhelmingly.

Not saying race has anything to do with it. Real savy basketball fans know he isn't on that level. Steve Nash 2.0

Has it ever happened, that an ex NFL player said a black QB only won the MVP, because he is black. I don't know much about American Football, but aren't most of the QB's white?

His last two titles are very well deserved, the last one is one of the most deserved of all time. This season I don't think he is deserving to wins it , its my personal opinion , but these attacks about the race favoring are ridiculous.

Goes to show a lot of people in general are thinking way too hard and becoming way to defensive about a freaking MVP race. I bet Jokic, Gianni, Luka, Tatum etc. hardly care as much as some of these clowns. Obviously they all would be honored to win, but beyond that they play basketball and go home.

Some of the ways basketball is discussed are way too existential and contextual. Old generations v. new generations, all-time lists etc. Just watch the game and judge what's going on right now and enjoy it.

If a former white NFL player said that a black QB won it because he's black, he'd be crucified. Interesting how the reaction to this is a lot more muted.

There was the whole Limbaugh thing with McNabb years ago. Limbaugh was not a player though.

Not trying to make it hard on ya. Just feel like Jokic is starting to attract that narrative and was wondering how NBA fans here feel. Luckily, it seems like almost the entire board passionately rejects this kind of narrative so far. It’s sad because Jokic is statistically doing top 5 all time type stuff the last 3 years.

I never thought so. The first year he won, Curry carried g leaguers all season but the reasoning was Golden States seeding was too low. The second time he won it, last year, the roles were reversed, with Golden state and Curry dominating the regular season and Jokic carrying bums. Jokic won it unanimously. Curry should have gotten another MVP at least one of those 2 years.

I'm not debating any of Nash's MVPs, I personally think he should have won 3. I'm just pointing out that everyone was thinking it and some media guys even insinuated the race card.
