Like I’ve said in the MVP thread, Perk is hitting a HR at his job right now. Ever since Perk went on the stat padding and race narratives, ESPN’s videos and tweets about Perk and Jokic has been some of their most popular stuff.

People will sit and complain about this stuff, but then go on and click on the videos. They didn’t hire Perk to make hard hitting well thought out basketball takes. They hired Perk to get clicks and views. And so far, at least for the 2nd half of the NBA season, Perk has been ESPN’s MVP for their basketball coverage. The guy is most likely going to get a bonus or at minimum more air time because of this.

Perk should be fired. For this and the fact he makes ESPN unwatchable.

There was the whole Limbaugh thing with McNabb years ago. Limbaugh was not a player though.

I never thought so. The first year he won, Curry carried g leaguers all season but the reasoning was Golden States seeding was too low. The second time he won it, last year, the roles were reversed, with Golden state and Curry dominating the regular season and Jokic carrying bums. Jokic won it unanimously. Curry should have gotten another MVP at least one of those 2 years.

Curry didn't play enough games and didn't even end up making the playoffs. And at the very least, he still had Draymond - the second most important player of Warriors dynasty. Jokic was missing two max players last year...and the expectation was that the Nuggets would be out of the playoffs.

Seriously who let Perkins become an analyst? He essentially has no qualifications for it and spews garbage every time he’s on air

He clearly doesn’t though. His videos and stuff on their Twitter and YouTube channels are by far the most watched basketball stuff for ESPN as of late. From ESPN’s point of view, he should get a bonus, not fired.

If Garnett wouldn't have been traded in Boston in 2007, Perkins would have been forgotten for everyone since 2010, including Celtics fans.

It's funny you could tell that's how he felt before he even admitted it was on a racial tip based on prior comments.

I hope that this isn't he case because ESPN has always made their stance on racism clear - or is it when the tables are turned, it's ok to turn a blind eye to?

In all honesty if Jokic doesn't deserve to win it then who **** does? Who can you make a legitimate argument for MVP over Jokic?

Nobody. It's such an US thing to try and create bullcrap narratives as to why someone isn't deserving. Is he the best player in the league this season? Yes. Is his team the on top of the western conference? Yes.

In football it was basically Messi and Ronaldo getting the bulk of Ballon d'ors for like over 10 years. There were no voter fatigue because in order to vote looking at someone objectively is a must.

People who talk about voter fatigue should never ever be allowed to vote. People who bring race into it should absolutely never EVER be allowed to vote.

Camopazzo,Barton,Cousins are not in the league. Morris is the role player off the bench,Rivers has minor role on Minnesota team. That was Jokic's crew last season plus Gordon and Jeff Green and other Green who is playing for GS this season . There is no player in the league who would be able to drag that sorry team to play off's beside Jokic. Curry would have done nothing with that team, they would have been lottery team with him.

ESPN (none of these major corporations) have a moral stance on anything. They’re just going to push whatever gets them the most clicks and views (revenue).

Long gone are the days with ESPN where their biggest names were the Sportscenter anchors. Where the most charismatic and entertaining people became the most popular. Those were the people that moved the needle for ESPN in the past.

With the Internet and YouTube, guys just talking about the highlights don’t move the needle anymore. It’s the ones that get trending on social media, the ones that get the clicks and interactions. And guys that make narratives like Perk is doing get the most clicks.

I can't find a video right now but the funny thing is Perkins was on PTI a couple months ago and said Jokic was the best player in the NBA and no one could beat the Nuggets in a 7 game series.

Of course the week before he said the Celtics were the best team, and now he says the Bucks are the best team and Giannis is the best player. But I remember the Nuggets/Jokic thing specifically because he's always on the C's bandwagon when he does Boston media stuff but then on ESPN he was on the Nuggets bandwagon lol.

Point being the guy just says stuff to get attention and changes his mind every two days depending on the reaction he gets. I'd like it if we didn't give him that attention.

What does this imply then? Canada is not part of Europe. You know damn well what he meant

Your title is he agrees with Draymond. Draymond never said Jokic is mvp cause he’s white.

You can come to the conclusion that’s what Kendrick meant with that quote sure.

Edited the title. Thank you for correcting that. I just rewatched Draymond’s clip and his was more centered on Euro’s, not being white. So to be fair to him I removed him.

Think about Rachel Nichols, who was summarily fired for suggesting that a black girl was being favored at her expense because ESPN wanted to promote diversity. She's been black-balled from sports media ever since.

Now you have Kendrick Perkins, who's clearly suggesting that Nash, Dirk and Jokic are or were favored in MVPs because of their race and you haven't heard a peep out of ESPN yet. Interesting how double standards work.
