Re: Marquette basketball
#6 in the AP, highest since 78-79 season. That's great and everything but lots of pressure on Shaka to get this team to the second weekend, something his teams have never done. Texas lost in the first round as a 3 seed a couple of years ago.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Other than that trip to the Final Four VCU had.

Re: Marquette basketball
Shaka is sort of interesting, made his name with that Final 4 run with VCU but then at Texas had a lot of Regular Season success but alot of tournament failure. Hopefully he turns that part around this year for Marquette.
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

I know you never know with the way transfers work nowadays....But this team is pretty much stacked for next year right? I wouldn't think any of these guys are early entry material?

I'd think they should be, yeah. Wouldn't expect any of the guys to leave for the NBA this year.MartyConlonOnTheRun wrote:I know you never know with the way transfers work nowadays....But this team is pretty much stacked for next year right? OMax while he has NBA length, he just doesn't have the coordination to put it to optimal use often enough
Oso while a great decision maker in the half court, hasn't yet shown any ability to stretch the floor or even be much of a rim running threat
Kam is having a fantastic year shooting and finishing at the rim but I question his athleticism vs NBA caliber guys
Tyler, maybe. Very curious to see if he tests and what kind of combine numbers. Specifically lane agility and the like

Perfect example of how a game is never over, sometimes even after the opposing team seemingly has waved the white flag.

St. John's again today. Beat them by 2 at home last weekend. Not a gimme. I think they're a 3 seed regardless of this tourney but coukd be a 2 if they won it.

Re: Marquette basketball
I'm tempering my tourney expectations. They seem to be cooling off, but who knows? Again, I think their weaknesses are rebounding and they can miss free throws at inopportune times, but they are smart, and when in rhythm they are tough to stop. It's nice to have at least one WI team to root for this time of year. Badgers just look lost out there.
I was thoroughly entertained by MU's play this year and I'm excited about the future.

Yup. Damn shame. Hopefully they can wake themselves up but I’m not seeing much heart out of anyone out there right now.

They woke up and played well to start the second half and then held on. Grinder game but a win.
