Peaks: Wade/Jokic vs Durant/Giannis
Which duo would you take at their peaks in today’s league?

Durant and Giannis lmao. Like wtf. Jokic gets a ton of props for someone that may never win a ring lmao.
There's literally no way to gameplan against Durant/Giannis. I don't even know if Wade/Jokic fit well.

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

You seriously think gameplaning against Wade and Jokic would be easy? Teams as it is can’t slow Jokic down by himself.

They sure do, stop him in the playoffs. He's easy to take advantage of on the defense end. He is pretty much a center version of Harden. KD is just as impactful on offense in the playoffs while possessing great defense. Giannis is just as impactful on offense if not more while being more impactful on defense. This is a no brainer to me. Individually peak KD and Giannis are just better players than both

Durant and Giannis have both been game planned against much more successfully than Wade or Jokic have been, especially Giannis.
You said to me “I will give you scissor seven fine quality animation".
You left then but you put flat mediums which were not good before my scissor seven".
What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt?

You were probably saying the same thing about Giannis like two days ago when he was ringless then. Yes...players are ringless until they are not.
Obviously Jokic is good enough to be the center part of a championship team....he's one of the best players in the league.

I would say jokic’s defensive struggles thus far are as big of a deal as giannis’s offensive struggles had been before he won
I think it’s fair to believe he can overcome them or show it’s not as big of an issue that some think going forward though

Jokic;s nuggets haven't done better than embid's sixers and I don't think that's a help thing. Even before the ring Giannis's team performed significantly better with similar help both in 2019 and 2022.
Jokic needs to demonstrate his defense isn't a big liability for this to be a convo tbh

I’ll happily take 2 demigods, one can monster backend the defence and the other can score 30 in his sleep… actually wait both can easily. Insane amount of length like insane. My interior and exterior protection is going to be bonkers.
Get me a Rubio and we are going to the promised land.
Or basically Bucks on steroids, replace Middleton with Durant is lol worthy.
Posters saying Durant and Giannis’s has been game planned for… yeah the whole bloody opposing team. The op was about both. There isn’t a defence in history that would be able to do anything with that kind tandem, absolutely none at all.

Some terrible takes about Jokic just because he hasn’t won a ring despite playing with 3rd stringers for a lot of his career. It’s a close call but leaning towards the defensive versatility of a Giannis / Durant to go along with Durant’s floor spacing and off ball ability.

I agree with both you and Ohayo in that we need a tiiiiny bit more time to assess Jokic and his defensive struggles in the post season but I'll say this.
Jokic has had his defensive short comings successfully game planned for and exploited when surrounded by a meh defensive supporting cast.
Durant and Giannis have had their offensive short comings successfully game planned for and exploited when surrounded by excellent offensive supporting cast. How a player can struggle with offensive resilience whilst in a 5 out offence with multiple secondary ball handlers and playmakers is beyond me.

Weird how "successfully planned' leads to Giannis' teams doing much better than Jokic's teams. Again, you're cherrypicking offense. Assess holistically, and I think you'd be hard-pressed to argue Giannis being "offensively gameplanned" is the bigger issue.
Forcing a tight series against a 60-win team + Kawhi(and Gasol), and a +7 SRS(undersells them if anything) Celtics side without your second best player is more impressive than anything Jokic's nuggets have done.
Never mind obliterating the defending finalists, beating the Suns on one leg, and ending Kyrie sanity. How about we see Jokic actually do something first before we pit him against someone whose repeatedly carried legitimate contenders(and overcame alot for a title). Getting dumped by the Lakers in 5 is currently Nikola's pinnacle, and Murray honestly performed better that postseason despite receiving more defensive focus.
I also hope you're not trying to say Giannis has an excellent offensive cast. Shooters who can't hit open looks, win or lose, is not "excellent" offense.

“Demigods”? I knew once you used that term the rest of your post was going to be biased or unserious. Sure enough it was.
Jokic is having quite arguably the best offensive regular season ever, with a good reason to believe he keeps it up in the postseason given what he did the last two years. If you’re talking about just the offensive side, I don’t even see a case for KD/Giannis. Defense they’re obviously better though.

Demigod just means 7 footer that moves and plays like a guard I think, idk why Giannis is called one though

Re: Peaks: Wade/Jokic vs Durant/Giannis
It's really hard to overstate the damage 2005-2011 Wade would do to today's NBA. He was 6'4" 220, built like Adrian Peterson with the same speed and even more agility. He would just blow right by people and get to the line for like 10-12 attempts a game, possibly average 33/8/8 with two steals and a block. Wade was *much* better than Dame and Ja Morant and Donovan Mitchell, and arguably a better passer than them besides Morant. He was a terror on defense. I don't know that KD was ever truly better than Peak Wade. Even if he was, Jokic is a much better player than KD ever was IMO. Giannis is close. Giannis is def better than Wade, but Jokic is better than Giannis. We've never even seen Jokic with all-around squads arguably as good as Giannis. We've never seen Jokic with a true all-nba guy. Wade could get like 10 ppg just from cutting and getting out in transition. He'd be an elite point of attack and help defender, helping protect the rim.

I think Jokic being much better than KD is a bit hyperbolic.
I'm also not sure Jokic is better than Giannis come playoff time.

I don’t think anyone should be categorized as “much better” than anyone else here. Most have Giannis and Jokic in a different tier than Wade and KD but I wouldn’t say they are much better, and don’t think Giannis is automatically top 2 in this comparison.

I feel like the KD/Giannis duo is more portable to any kind of lineup, but Wade/Jokic would be better offensively. It's tough but KD/Giannis simply because of the versatility of lineups and rosters you can have.

Wrong, I never said the same thing about Giannis. Jokic completely sucks at defense, that’s the difference.
