Just love that the Bears are going to pass on him and trade away the #1 pick. Total choke job if they do. Fields is a good athlete but nowhere near the thrower Richardson is.

So,..... If the Bears were to blink, and select Richardson(or any other QB), who's a buyer for Fields?

Someone who misses out on a QB in the draft. Not sure which team. He’s only 2 years in to his rookie deal, and has showed enough to get somebody’s interest.

I believe if the Bears were truly sold on a QB to take #1 overall they could get the #2 pick for Justin Fields......or the #4 pick/#35 pick from the Colts.....or the #7 and a future first from the Raiders along with similar trades from Carolina, ATL, NO

Nah, I don't think Fields has near that value. He's bad.

I don’t think they’d get that much for him. Despite him being 7th in the league in rushing last year(including all running backs) dumping him has a pretty negative connotation. Also, his passing stats are very similar to Josh Allen’s after 2 years. Josh didn’t take off until the Bills got him a blue chip receiver. Adding Stefan Diggs was a home run for them. Will Fields take the same step if he gets a real receiver to throw too? Don’t know. Maybe.

I don't want a tight end in R1 because historically they haven't turned out, but give me a day 2 and day 3 guy, there is so much depth here

I wouldn't hate it if the first two picks were TEs.

Will Gute screw this up again? 2 tight ends he's drafted in the 3rd round had a 5.18 RAS and a 6.66 RAS.

Small and slow is not the formula Gute. This isn't complicated.

I still contend that in MLF's offense, the TE does more dirty work than anything, so it's gonna be a tough ask for one of these elite athletes to come in and be ok with the heavy blocking responsibilities. I think that's why MLF hand picked Deguara. He was a try hard lunch pail guy that wasn't gonna complain. Some of these guys might come in and say EFF this, I wanna run seam routes instead of crack blocking DE's all day.

Darnell Washington has a reputation as a good blocker. If he's available in round 2, seems like a no brainer to me.

Perfect guy in the 2nd round....agreed about his blocking. Ceiling of Gronk type, floor might be Mercedes Lewis 2.0 which isn't horrible for a 2nd rounder.

It's all about ROI. No need to draft Jerry Rice if you run the wishbone offense. Tyler Higbee's (Rams) average depth of target last year was 3.0. Sound familiar ?? If MLF can't take advantage, then why use high end resources for a guy that won't move the needle due to restrictions within the offense ?? The plays are the plays. The blocking schemes are the blocking schemes. We ain't in Kansas City.

I wonder whether that's an issue with LaFleur's scheme or if it's been an issue with Rodgers. The only tight end Rodgers ever heavily targeted in his career was Jermichael Finley. Rodgers has also been pretty notorious for avoiding the middle the field compared to other quarterbacks (higher probability of tipped balls and INTs on passes over the middle).

There's also been rumors that LaFleur wants to run more under center plays, but Rodgers prefers to play out of shotgun. That probably restricts some of the play designs LaFleur wants to run that would have more two tight end sets with QB under center.

That's why I listed Higbee's numbers. I think it's definitely a McVay offense thing. Deguara is blocking a LOT. I'm fine with drafting a tight end. But if you're gonna use him like an h-back - no need to draft a gazelle. And h-back types can be had later. Especially with ER, Safety, DL and OL concerns. For example, I take Tippman in the Second Round 100 times out of 100 over a TE. The value nod is massive. If some people are correct in thinking Myers would be a better Guard, you can strengthen your OL considerably with that pick. If you can hit on an ER in the First, now you're cooking with gas. A TE just isn't gonna move the needle IMO. Two more TE screens per game isn't what the offense was lacking. And TE is one of the hardest positions to come in and make an impact.

LaFleur also comes from the Shanahan coaching tree, and the 9ers have no issues with utilizing George Kittle. I'd imagine if McVay had a tight end of Kittle's caliber instead of Tyler Higbee, he'd utilize the tight end more in the passing game.

Yea, there's a reason the Packers offense doesn't utilize TEs. Their tight ends are buckets of ass. Considering the Packers have met with every TE mocked in the first and second round, it sounds like that may change.
