What state was he in? Open carry, Constitutional carry, Concealed carry, Concealed carry with a permit?

What city, county or town ship was he in?

Was he in fact in a night club or on private property?

If he was in A night club, was he on the floor or in a private room?

Does he have a carry permit?

Was the gun legal?

Does he have a carry permit, did he need one where he was?

Is it illegal to have a fire arm on Instagram live? Against policy?

Again I think his punishment should fit the crime if he actually committed one.

I am not trying to start a political conversation, I'm just saying I think these questions need asked.

The fact that we live in a country where a person can brandish a weapon in public - like some kind of toy - that is specifically designed to kill someone and people like you are asking, “Well, was it legal?” is the exact reason kids get shot to death in schools. It’s the fault of people like you who don’t step back and say, “Holy crap, that’s insane! Why do we allow this?!”
The mods asked us not to go into a political debate here so I'll avoid that. But by people like me, you're referring to a trained, licensed, permitted and responsible gun owner and collector. I have a high level of understanding of fire arms and fire arm safety. Now I didn't touch on this, but on that point, this does make him look like a fool. He shouldn't be handling a fire arm in such a childish and irresponsible way. His actions break several things you learn on any day one of instruction. I find it distastful, inappropriate, problematic, and offensive. It's behavior that needs corrected. But we aren't talking about the court of public opinions. He shouldn't be punished and potentially loose millions of dollars cuz someone finds something offensive. A lot of factors are gonna determine if he actually broke any laws and even the reality of what he did, If he broke a law then it's a different story.

Of course you own a gun. Like I said, your fault.

10000000% absolutely a slap in the face to responsible gun owners and gun safety practitioners. Behavior that should be frowned on and corrected. I just do like tossing around punishment when no laws were broken.

I guess I kind of look at it less as “punishment” and more “you’re acting like an irresponsible moron and we don’t want you associated with our organization until you pull it together”.

He's a public figure, his 8 figure contract and his sponsorship deal are directly tied to his public image. He literally makes his money because of the court of public opinion. He's potentially losing millions because he is showing his sponsors, the league and the world he is an unreliable idiot.

There are perks to being wealthy and famous at every level of society my dude.
Yes they are supposed to undergo screening as rigorous as the rest of us, but in reality the guys doing the screenings are probably asking for his autograph.

I'm thinking he'll say it was a friend's gun who lives in (or "drove" to) Denver, who let him hold it. But even then, I'm not sure that's allowed and the NBA still will punish him since he is a representation of their image.

You’re probably right. I just assumed the TSA would be agnostic but who the hell knows. If he’s bringing a gun on board the team plane…yes this is Gilbert arenas level. He should realistically be banned the rest of the year imo

Is there more to the story then just some reddit post?

Do we actually know it was his gun? Can you fly with a gun if it's in a checked bag? Honestly no idea

Very stupid move from the guy and hopefully it’s an an inflection point of his judgement that’s correctable so Grizz shouldn’t overreact and move him.

However, they should suspend him and potentially for a lengthy time to readjust their culture. They’ll make the playoffs and although they have a lot of young talent, I don’t believe in this current iteration’s ability to win a title. They need to refocus and bring n some
Veterans leadership.

Honestly it’s a bit risky since he’s kinda volatile but if I were them I’d definitely see what it takes to get Jimmy Butler. He’s the Grindhouse persona wing they’ve needed over the last decade . He’s not an outside shooter but they won’t get a perfect fit and I think he’s an attainable. I don’t believe they can win a title though unless they bring in a vet like that.

I bet there was a time when Aaron Hernandez treated a gun like a toy while flexing for strangers and moochers. Before graduating to stupider things.

Who's advising this kid? Who's got his back and I don't mean in a fight, I mean who's going to make sure he's not in situations where he can hurt himself (image or health wise)

I don't feel sorry for anyone with massive opportunities and then they do stupid things...there's millions with far bigger problems, who'd give anything for the advantages he now has.

Silver needs to grow a set and start putting the good of the game ahead of letting players "express themselves"....and start by bringing back a dress code. The crap Dillon Brooks rocked up in the other night should see him unable top play in that game
Sometimes a player's greatest challenge is coming to grips with his role on the team

If it happened in Denver, as it seems, he definitely broke laws. Open carry is illegal in Denver and waving a gun around would seem to fit the description of open carry. If he transported it in a vehicle that's another law he broke (assuming in Denver.) If that's where it happened he could face criminal charges.

No idea, also given the source. That being said he was at a club in Denver, so he did probably bring it on the plane. But as others said he could make an excuse saying it was a friends gun.

Yeah ! Definitely depends. if it wasn't his gun it's actually far worse for him.

Most of the time in most states it is a far bigger crime to have a gun that you don't legally own. Especially when you get into a situation like this.

Have you been under a rock? Laws have already been broken..

Morant was in the vehicle that pointed a laser at members of the Pacers, it was alleged by Pacers security that the laser was attached to a visible firearm. That's called 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, which is a Class G felony punishable with up to 10 years in prison here in Wisconsin.

Beating up a 17 year old following a pick-up basketball game? That's called battery. That'll get you up to 9 months in jail here in Wisconsin. It was then alleged that Morant produced a handgun following the scuffle. Aggravated assault with a semi-automatic handgun will land you in prison for 3 years here.

Threatening a mall security staffer outside a Finish Line? Causing someone to fear imminent harm is called assault, that'll get you up to 9 months in jail here in Wisconsin.

Then this idiot posts a video of himself in a club, presumably drunk, waving around a handgun. Surely you know you must maintain absolute sobriety in order to be in possession of a firearm. That'll get you up to 9 months in jail here in Wisconsin.

No laws broken huh.
