Papelbon is coming off a better season than Rivera. And he is the Boston Red Sox closer.

Of course with that said he's not coming to Boston.

i could definitely see Pap goin back to the rotation. hes said all along previous to this past pring training that he was signed as a starter and thats where hell end up. and when he did start for a short time early on he was his same dominant self.

and why in the hell would Mo warm the seat for Chris Ray??? are you kidding me?? Chris Ray???

Papelbon > Rivera

I see Mo wearing pin stripes next season.

$$$. Rivera has won how many rings...4? He's a lock for the Hall of Fame, can't blame the guy if he wants to go somewhere else for more money. He's earned that right. Not saying he and the Orioles are the perfect fit, but the team is under new management (Andy MacPhail) so who knows?

I think Paps would struggle as a starter. While he has a great fastball, but can he keep the velocity up when he's getting tired. I'm just not sure he's got the makeup of a starter.

This is from soxprospects.com. 2007 Papelbon stated his desire to return to the closer's role, where he hoped to remain for his entire career.

Again there is no real reason to worry about it, because Rivera will not be a Boston Red Sox.

Maybe you're taking my take on the situation too seriously. Its highly unlikely he would want to pitch but its fun to dream of

How does Brad Lidge not have any pressure?
