Your FVV stanism is showing
There’s a reason literally no one shares the same opinion as you
It's called asset management. You want to let them just walk? Wait, you want to bring them back in another unbalanced lineup that shoots down their value into their new long term contracts?
The direction is to compete now and Barnes in the current state isn't helping. What has he improved on? He's the same bad player from last year that is pretending to be a guard while being a typical power forward.
We aren't even good enough to be a .500 team and you're thinking it's time to compete? Did people forget there are steps to this process?
Everyone around the league can see we are better than our record.
In the last 10 we have gone on a tear and shown we can at least beat weaker teams. The issue is our win rate against elite teams is very disappointing. If we want to be contenders we have to win games like these, no ref excuses. The one significant disadvantage we have is a lack of three point shooting.
We can easily make the SL better by subbing Trent for Barnes. Barnes is probably the better player and could ignite the second unit to be elite. If he can figure out the shooting issue he would become a starter again. OG wants out too so there's a position available very soon

Poeltl
In terms of the center production we're getting from Poeltl we're in the top 10 maybe even 5.
Weaknesses: 3Pt shooting, FT%, can't be played late in games
Siakam
OG
All NBA offense and All NBA defense.
Weaknesses: 3Pt shooting
Trent
VanVleet
Below average backcourt but still have players with the title "steady" and a fairly young guard that's showing improvement every season.
The bench:
It's going to be looking rough but these are our development projects, including Barnes.
Koloko
Boucher
Achiuwa
Barton
Barnes
Barnes will be forced to space the floor for this line up. They will have to use transition and defense to be a positive impact team. All of these guys work on their three point shot and would get a chance to use it in real win/lose situations.
