If we did and there is proof, we will know by the suspension. I think that is why the NBA is being quiet right now since they don't know. On the opposite end, he could have someone else's gun while drunk in a club so that is something the police would want to know about as well.

I haven't seen anyone reported details on whose gun it is and how he came to have it.

I believe Colorado is an open carry state so unless he actually pointed it at someone he likely technically didn't commit a crime and will likely avoid all legal trouble. I suspect that is more luck on Ja's part than actually being aware of the law though

Ja's been in like 30 states this season. Not all o them are open carry. So if he kept it with him and didn't magically dispose of it at every border crossing, he definitely violated laws.

That'd be hard to prove though. We don't even know if it was his own gun he was posing with, he could easily claim someone in his posse had the gun and lent it to him for the pose (very difficult to disprove yet again, even if the gun is registered to Ja). I found the video on tmz, he was dancing around with the gun pointed down for just a little bit, if it was loaded the biggest risk was him Plaxico Burressing himself. From a legal standpoint I think he can slither out of it this time because it was in Colorado and not in Denver (which has stricter gun restrictions). Needs to be very careful from now on though now that he's drawn the microscope onto himself, if he wises up he'll probably get a second chance that not everyone would get

Yeah you're probably right. the big impact though is while the police investigate and do try to verify or check to see if they can prove it the NBA and/or grizz will want to hold him out of games.

I don't know why people act like all these things are so difficult to prove. They are doing an actual police investigation in Colorado, so they'll certainly talk to his hangers on to see what the truth might be.

NBA is also going to talk to his teammates(the cops might want to, as well) and question them about all the stuff that went on.

Even if it may be difficult to meet standards of proof for legal charges, there will be plenty of proof for his employee(the NBA) to throw the book at Ja because they're not held to the same standards of proof.

I'm mainly talking from a legal standpoint. It was a power move by Colorado police to do this investigation because that's Nuggets country and Memphis is the 2 seed, and I wouldn't be so quick to say that isn't at least part of the reason they're investigating this anyway even if they know the likelihood of getting legal charges to stick are quite low. Witness testimony is pretty weak, and they'll likely cover for him anyway. The NBA can be more punitive without proof and that makes it more of a PR nightmare for the Grizz. The real question for the NBA is how much they want to ruin Ja's marketability, though that question might be an even bigger question for the shoe companies because Ja is the most marketable player they've had in a while

In Colorado it's illegal to carry a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. I imagine one of the questions police will be asking witnesses is whether they saw him drinking.

I am not saying he didn’t bring it on the plane, but it is just as likely he didn’t. He very easily and realistically could have gotten it at the club as someone else handed it to him. Which makes sense in its own right why he would take the picture. That’s as believable as he has been smuggling guns across the country. I just don’t know that it can be proven outside of who the owner is, and do the police even have the gun? Do they know whose it is? Ja likes hanging out with hip hop artists likely could be from a local crew he was hanging with.

Oddly I am not a gun guy but I have been handed so many guns in my life that people are showing off and it always freaks me out. I am talking about people I barely know (generally customers in their office) like wtf.

Unless Ja was waving it around on the plane though I think it will be damn near impossible that it is going to be proven he brought it on the plane.

Now all that being said dude needs to take the rest of the season off honestly and get his head on straight. Highly doubt this happens though.

I doubt most of the officers investigating this can even name 3 players on the Nuggets right now, and have no idea what the standings are.

They are investigating because a video went viral showing an idiot in a strip club flashing a gun, every police force is going to announce they are investigating that. If they can prove he had even 1 drink he broke the law by even having a gun on him.

Considering just about every strip club I have been in had video cameras 20 years ago, I am sure they have video and can prove he was drinking and he posted a video showing himself with the gun. Easy case to prove.

As someone who lived in Denver for 4 years, I can safely say there is no such thing as “Nuggets Country”. This is no shot at the Denver fan base or anything like that, but there is no doubt what so ever that Denver is “Broncos Country”. I’ve never been in a place that is more hardcore about their football than Denver is. When I lived there, even during NFL offseason and middle of NBA season (like right now), 95% of the talk on sports radio was still all about the Broncos.

Again don’t get me wrong, no shot at the Nuggets fan base, it’s not like they struggle to sell out games or anything. But ya the worry of the police department being so big Nuggets fans that they’re doing this to help out the Nuggets isn’t a thing.

So on the recent Windhorst podcast Marc Spears starts to say “some things that he’s heard” in relation to Ja’s actions and Windhorst quickly cuts him off and says “we don’t need to go into that”

Hmmmm. Anyone with any ideas?

There was a post here where a guy suggested he was going into rehab for alcoholism, but I no longer see the post. May Windhy headed it off here too.

It's kind of hard to emphasize how true this is. Maybe if the Nuggets make the Finals the sports talk here would spend a little more time on them than who should be 2nd string on the nose tackle depth chart, but even then I wouldn't bet on it.
