Poll: The Foster Barnes Show - Scott or Scottie - who you got?

Post#1 » by Hoop Heavy » Wed Mar 8, 2023 5:18 am

Well, you've probably seen the memes of the shocked NBA refs who were caught off guard as to why there was an ejection last night. :o

Scott Foster felt a non-demonstrative, fairly quiet comment was grounds for two techs and an ejection with less than a minute to go in a one point game. Still, to be fair Scottie Barnes seems to be attending the famous "AAHHHH" school of foul reporting as taught by Professor Pascal  - he does complains a lot.

Now lots of people want to say that this is a gambling situation, and not a personal thing between the two Scotts. I'm not a gambler myself can anyone explain how, in relation to the spreads that were in play, this action by a ref made a difference on a bet?

Only one vote in the poll today. :D

Not that I can copy it and paste it here but

Bill Simmons tweeted

Just caught up on the 4Q of Nuggets/Raps - just a legendary old-school Scott Foster "I'm going to F over one of these two teams because I can" performance. What an icon.

Nuggets deserved the win but the guy could have given Barnes a single T instead of an ejection.

He wanted to throw him out to illustrate power. **** him.

Here's a clip from somebody of the event.

He says there was only one tech ... I thought you needed two for an ejection ... I didn't count the free throws

Scott Foster has been crooked going back to the Donaghy days.

NBA is a TV show. The refs have no integrity because they're not supposed to.

There are so many easy and not obvious ways to manipulate a game. I dunno why people always think refs blowing up and doing something grandiose that draws a bunch of eyes is going to be the way they decide to cheat.

People take Donaghy’s word as gospel like he hasn’t been wrong and caught lying a billion times, but also, did anyone even know Donaghy before the scandal? No, because he wasn’t making himself blatantly a menace and drawing attention.

Hard to say without any audio. If what Scott Foster claims to be true in that Barnes essentially called the refs cheats, then that gives you an ejection in pretty much every sport League around the world.

On the other hand, it’s Scott Foster and he doesn’t give us much reason to believe him.

I’m sure the NBA has plenty of resources to audio that they will be able to verify it and I’m sure the Raptors will do their own due diligence.

If Barnes did indeed accuse the refs of rigging the games, then it's grounds for ejection...

an official can hand out one tech, but eject the player. they can hand out no tech and eject a player.

so you believe 450 players and 1000 retired ones could stfu if the games were rigged/scripted? youd stand to make a billion off the story. Kwame brown woulda exposed it by now. arenas would have, and tons of guys who aint make it would have as well.

Scott Foster knows what he is, and the players know what he is. Scottie got ejected for pointing it out.

Lip readers say "Y'all cheating bru." are the actual words.

Still, Scottie is facing Poeltl as much or more than Foster ... doesn't pursue him ... isn't physically demonstrative ... and suggests he was mostly just talking to himself.

The NBA allowing Foster to continue as a ref is just mind blowing to be honest.

This is an astute and valid point.

Still, people with substantial emotional/mental disorders (just hypothetically - not specifically here) will take actions that do not follow conventional logic to feed their "addiction". For instance, an extreme narcissist will get attention in ways that are destructive to the self. I agree with you, that short of something like that, ... it makes no sense to "shave points" in a flamboyant way.

Tim Donaghy's father was a heralded college basketball ref. He said he was embarrassed what his son had done. However, it does beg the question considering all of the gambling scandals in college basketball history. Perhaps he learned it from watching his father and how he dealt with gambling/the mob.

Stands to reason they never fired him because he would then become a whistleblower.

Didn’t need an ejection but that’s an easy tech.
