I just don't get how Mann at PG is a real solution. I'm open to being wrong. Just seems like him not being a PG, and George and Kawhi not being primary playmaking types is going to be problematic eventually.

Trust me you don't want PG being a primary playmaker.

It's just a short-term fix. They need at least one more real point guard.

Yeah. Just weird to be doing any short term fixes when you're this far into the Kawhi-PG thing and they aren't getting younger.

LA wins their second straight.

Closing lineup was....................Mann, Gordon, George, Leonard, Zubac

Russ 7/2/7 and a game-high +12 in 23 minutes.

Mann played 28 minutes.

Makes sense to put Westbrick into a 6th man role and give Mann his starting (closing?) spot back.
We'll see if Russ accepts that. He no doubt believes he is better than Mann and deserves those minutes.

Well John Wall was a bust and they felt like they had to trade Jackson in order to get another big (Plumlee).

Definitely not an ideal situation.

I was referring to Mann getting more minutes and a chance to finish the game, which is clearly the more meaningful role, but I agree Russ probably continues to start even if he's benched late in games.
And maybe just the honor of starting will placate him.
As you said, we'll see.

One More Win...

Post#351 » by Wammy Giveaway » Thu Mar 9, 2023 7:43 am

If Clippers can get one more win to go three in a row... there will officially be no stopping them.

It would take drawing an ejection for Clippers to stop winning streak. I don't think Leonard Popoviches the remainder of the regular season.

They figured it out, that is they will continue to improve the closer that figure gets to zero.

RW is balling, great pickup. Such a steal getting him to get bought out, can only imagine how good the Lakers would be with a PG like him

Clippers went small last game and went on a huge run. They could be dangerous in the playoffs. I think Westbrook looks great with this team. Leonard and George have his back. He didnt have that with the Lakers.

Quotes do not mean someone has your back. You can be happy for Russ without taking weak digs at the Lakers.

This is a post that could maybe be made if the last two years just didn't happen

..but even if they didn't happen it would still be questionable to make this post haha.

Paul George doesn't even want himself being a primary playmaker anymore, that's why he wanted Westbrook so badly.

Haha. Yeah, it's for sure not a steal to get a starter for $700,000 to fill a need (ballhandler and play maker) that the team couldn't fill before.

NCHeels definitely got me there!

Now, if the Clippers had to trade the equivalent of KCP, Harrell and Kuzma, as well as three second-round picks, to pickup Westbrook for $40+ million a year, then I'd feel like it was questionable to assert that the Clips got Russ as a steal.

Fortunately, that's not the case. That was the mistake the Lakers made, not the Clippers.

Getting a starter who is averaging 14/3/8 for $700,000 (vet minimum) while giving up nothing to get him?

Yep, that's a steal. Exactly as the post said.
