Kevin Durant Sprains Ankle During Warmup, Out At Least 3 Weeks

Post#1 » by WillyJakkz » Thu Mar 9, 2023 4:46 am

Chris Rock voice: "Grand opening... Grand closing!"

This man injured his ankle during warmups and misses his Phoenix Suns home debut.

Jeez... I don't know man... I'm excited to see them play because the Suns looked pretty good vs DAL etc not sure they can win a chip because of defense but then again that's neither here nor there if they can't be on the court together. And that's the concern.

Booker stepped up to beat the Thunder but still. This guy is looking paper maché-ish...

Dude keeps getting unlucky with injuries, but we gotta remember he isn't a spry youngin' anymore.

Missing the game looks precautionary given how he was moving after the ankle roll. If it was a playoff game he would surely have played.

The twist itself though looked nasty. So he can count himself pretty lucky that it wasn't serious.

Hopefully, he finished his warmup routine after rolling it so I want to be optimistic.

How the hell did he walk that off initially? No pain receptors in that man

Makes me think they want him rested for the playoffs, which they're a virtual lock for even without him...

Never rolled an ankle before?
Severity can vary quite a bit, but it's not usually something that incapacitates you.

Ankle sprains many times can hurt more after you stop activity or after some rest.

I've done the whole gamut of ankle injuries from basketball, mild sprain, moderate sprain, severe sprain, fracture, high ankle sprain, played through many of those. The high ankle sprain though, didn't have a chance trying to shake that one off in the moment.

Here fixed it for you. After the adrenaline fades and you sit still for awhile that thing will swell up and have you limping like Igor.

That's why it's still advisable to wear high-cut shoes. It may slightly impair your lateral a bit, but it sure protects your ankle from twists and turns.

PHX will be good and prob better off keeping him in bubble wrap until the actual playoffs. If he is healthy at that point, they are good to go. Building chemistry is great and all but talent is talent no one can beat them if he is healthy.

Imagine going to see KD only for ol' pipe cleaner legs to twist an ankle during warmups

As long as he’s ready to go for the Playoffs, that’s all that matters.

I think some people just can't really sprain their ankles. Lebron is also like that where he will have full blown ankle sprains in games and just continue playing and the next day too etc.

Last year I also sprained my ankle "pretty badly" and continued playing. Then after playing I had difficulty walking and ended up hopping around on the good foot when I got home cause the sprained ankle was hurting pretty bad. The next morning I did some barefoot plyometrics and hill sprints to help with blood circulation and ankle strengthening and the pain just instantly went away. It's not advice I'd give to anyone, but it simply works for my body type/ for my ankles.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Doesn’t sound like you sprained your ankle, you rather rolled it.
