Is Haliburton already the best point guard in Pacer history?
Looking at their all-time team in NBA 2k23, their best point guards are Mark Jackson, Freddie Lewis and Don Buse. That's pretty horrible. It also made me realize how weak the all-time Pacers team really is compared to the rest of the league.

The other guys don't ring a bell, but Mark Jackson was a very good point guard. That said, Halliburton is on track to be much better than him.

Lance Stephenson was a point guard of sorts and that man was cooking at some stage

As of now it's still Mark Jackson. Halliburton has some ways to go but he can definitely get there.

Still Mark Jackson. Dude averaged 11 assists a game in an era if you hit 110 points it’s an automatic win.
Hali is a much better scorer though so if he stays consistent and has some longevity there, he’ll pass him.

Sure. Because someone can easily be the best ever at anything after 70 odd games for a franchise.

Did I miss something?

I just watched Mark Jackson call a game recently.

He didn’t average that for the Pacers though, but I get your point. This season Halliburton destroys any individual season Jackson had with the Pacers. Jackson never averaged over 10apg for the Pacers (9.8 for 30 games was his best), and his highest ppg for them was 10.0, and those were different seasons. Halliburton is averaging 20.6 and 10.3. He’s also doing it on much better efficiency. Mark has longevity and more team success (which was as a role player).

He never averaged 11 APG for the Pacers. Also, he played in an era where the PG of a team used to have a lot more ball handling and decision-making duties compared to today, when a lot more players can handle the ball and create.
What is more, even if we adjust the assist numbers, Haliburton's AST per 100 possessions and AST% are right up there with Jackson. Add to this that Haliburton is twice the scorer Jackson is and I don't think this is close.

Freddie lewis is on the aba all time team, 2 time all star for the pacers, and 3 time champion for the pacers.
Haliburton will probably beat him eventually, but not yet.

Talent wise he is the best by far I think. Mark Jackson had good assist numbers but he's not close to Haliburton imo. I only started watching basketball in 95' so I didn't get to see any PG before Mark Jackson.

We are 1 year too early because you’ll get those responses above. “This old player is better because he played for them longer” is not a strong argument.
Even just looking at the stats, Hali is on track to be 3x the player Jackson was. Jeez, stop the hate. Hali is a young stud who just made his first All-Star selection this season. Jackson had 1 All-Star season in NY just to put that into perspective.
So sure Mark Jackson can be the best Pacers PG in franchise history. Til next season when Hali makes another leap with an improved team composed around him.

As far as peak and talent obviously yes. He's gonna be an all time point guard if he doesn't have injury problems in his career

Re: Is Haliburton already the best point guard in Pacer history?
You don't become the best at anything in NBA history after 1 season. If you asked "is 2023 Haliburton the best season for a Pacers point guard ever?" the answer might be yes.
If he plays 3+ seasons with the Pacers we can talk about it. Mark Jackson played 6 seasons and was a much more limited player than Haliburton. George Hill had some nice years in his 6 seasons there as a high-level 3-and-D guy. Don Buse came in with the ABA. Jamaal Tinsley comes to mind.
But there's no All-star level point guard he needs to leap frog. Play a few seasons at or near this level and it's all his!

Yes. As long as he stays healthy. Pacer's point guard history is thin so Haliburton doesn't have much to go through.
