Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread: Part Two**
The way it’s being reported, seems like it’s starting to be framed as more of a mental hurdle. Could they be trying to spin it to put pressure on Kat to come back? Or is he really that nervous…
If there’s a chance he’s not right mentally, then leave him out. Thinking about it will cause him to overcompensate in some manner and will surely lead to something worse.

It start to remind me the K. Leonard / SAS drama...
Is it possible that KAT was not happy that DLo have been traded and was starting to put pressure on FO to be trade this summer ?

My brother is mad at KAT and seems to think KAT is the one keeping everyone in the dark about his injury including the team. I always assumed it was the medical staff keeping the fans and team in the dark and not something that KAt is actively doing but being told to keep quiet about.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Despite what you Jim Souhan is constantly telling us, the media has no right to private health issues of any person.
American citizens used to take HIPPA (edit: I should have said, “their right to the privacy of their health information”) seriously, but even before COVID, some people in the media thought that sports figures should abandon their rights to health privacy.
I’d like to know the condition of KAT’s calf strain. I’m curious. But my curiosity doesn’t supersede his right to disclose as much, or as little, about his health as he wishes.

Idk what HIPAA ever had to do with covid, but if KAT doesn’t want the team to disclose health issues then that is probably protected by HIPAA unless there is some stipulation in some NBA contracts.
It never makes the team or players look good when they take long to recover from injuries but I’d rather them be safe. This has been just another in the questionable injuries and recoveries this team has dealt with.

Is it KAT or the team? The team hasn't given an estimated timeline at any point since the injury.

I’m not sure how HIPPA applies to professional sports since most require teams to disclose injury information. There seems to be a contradiction there.

Exactly right Shrink. Good for you.
Kat wants to play because that's what he's all about. He knows his body. Grade 3 tears are a very serious and slow healing injury.
It's one thing if a layperson gets it but totally another when a top professional athlete does.
Who knows if Kat had a setback trying to come back. We don't know.
Blame the team for poor commumication.

It's honestly not really something team staff can give a good opinion on. It has to come from KAT. There's a number of things that have to happen before you can come back from serious injury. Being able to test your body on something as serious as a tear is super needed. If you're not careful one wrong slip and you can either reinjure yourself, injure another part of your body, mentally get shocked, or worse, any two of the above.

This is great news. Home against the Hawks on 3/22 or against GSW on 3/26 make sense. Hopefully earlier, but we can't rush things.

I doubt it will be that far out. He's likely talking about the "Stay in Shape League". I remember JMac did that on a Wednesday and Friday before making his debut on Sunday. Maybe Towns won't quite be that fast, but I don't think it will be two weeks if everything goes well unless they want to insert him in the starting lineups with full minutes immediately.

My guess is Towns returns on the 17th or 18th. My second guess is Towns plays a total of 9 regulars season games before the playoffs (only playing 1 game out of each of the remaining back to backs).

Hope to get 10 games in with KAT amd current roster to get some clarity on whether we move him or keep him. As it stands, the Wolves need to do what’s best for Ant and maybe even Ant/McD in the off-season….

Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread: Part Two**
But when coach Chris Finch was asked after practice on Thursday if there was a point in which it would be too late for Towns to return, he made it clear how important the Timberwolves view seeing Towns back on the court this season.
“Regardless of what happens between here and the rest of the season, getting KAT with this group is such a priority just to see what we have,” Finch said. “I wouldn’t say it’s not worth it unless we were to fall completely out of the race. But even at that point, we need to discover for offseason evaluation, tweaking, strategy, game plan, whatever it might be, we got to see what this thing looks like.”

Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread: Part Two**
I’m so sick of Jim Souhan.
In the last Jon Krawsinki podcast, Souhan led off with his typical “teams that don’t tell me everything and I’d have to investigate”-line, again blaming the organization for screwing up. But last night was worse. He said he asked on Tuesday night about Towns, Finch said, “No Update” again, so he got mad and wrote a column about it Wednesday, and then the Wolves announced a timetable. Self-important. And I am tired of hearing stories ever since Thibs about how the organization should treat the media. That may be important to him, but I want to hear sports.
I gave up the show for a few years when I was so frustrated with them after George Floyd. D’Angelo Russell was asked about it, and chose not to make a comment .. which is well within his rights. Souhan, a 52 year old white guy, played DLo’s clip, and then went on for three minutes telling us all what Russell must be thinking. That was so inappropriate to do to Russell or any black man, and was just another example of him putting his own opinions in front of reporting the news.

Which is to keep KAT. Our offense has not been good lately. Last year we were the highest scoring team. KAT was all-nba last year. KAT makes life a lot easier for Ant. Why do you morons want to trade him?

That train is gone, Gobert is here and Beverly, Beasley and Vanderbilt are gone.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
