I like Washington too, but I think he's going to disappoint people if they think they're getting the next Gronk, Kelce, Gates, Gonzo, Kittle, etc. He's a great athlete but not in a real functional receiving sense. What you're probably getting is mid-career Mercedes Lewis.

First thing I said to myself is Washington looks clunky. You might say it's expected with a guy that size but it still seems true. On the clip of his one handed catch, his jogging looked really weird to me. Look at his legs. The guys at PFF agree in the fact that he isn't gonna create his own separation. He may catch some balls on body position alone, but the NFL is a different ball game

Washington is a luxury, the guy you draft if you already have a couple great WRs and a pass catching threat at TE. I think he'd make the right offense unfair. If he was the pick in the second round I'd be thrilled.

Looking at the tight ends I think Kincaid is near the bottom out of the main guys, he's old and doesn't block at all. I don't wanna take a R1 TE but if we did give me Mayer or Washington. I like a bunch of guys for day 2 though

I get hung up on older players as well, but in this case, I think the Kincaid age is exaggerated a bit. He only played one year of football before he got offered at an FCS school, then took a redshirt season to further develop because of his lack of experience, which I think helped get his name out there.

But Day 2/3 has some absolute gems at TE that I'd be more than happy with.

Player age is irrelevant. If you can get second contract out of a draft pick it's a success.

Washington is an absolute load. He looks clunky in his route running but he’s got incredible balance, a massive catch radius and is strong as an ox. I think he’s a total package 3 down player you can utilize in many ways. He ran misdirections from the backfield as a H-back, he blocked and ran routes from the tradition TE position and also ran routes in a 2pt stance as a “WR”. I think at worst in his rookie year, he’s a huge red zone target and chain mover in the pass game and a 6th Olineman in the run game and pass pro. If Love is gonna be the guy, a brick **** house like Washington always near by is a great security blanket and his blocking ability can help keep defenses from just loading up the box and forcing the inexperienced QB to make plays under constant pressure. Imo he makes a ton of sense for a new QB that would likely be more willing to utilize him than Aaron ever would have…

I'm open to Washington, but I'm not taking him at 15. His route running needs work - it's too sloppy. He also has trouble getting separation. It matters less in college because his hands are so impressive and he's got a nice catch radius. But I think he'd struggle against faster, more athletic linebackers and bigger safeties as a primary target in an offense.

I don't think he'll get to us in the second, but perhaps we'd trade up for him in the late first. Especially if we get some ammo from the Jets.

Maybe we take Mayer, trade up for Washington, and run a lot of 2 TE sets.

I really just wish Brock Bowers was draft eligible in a way I haven't thought about a prospect since Adrian Peterson.

I know it's an iffy bet, but I wouldn't have any problem if the draft compensation in a Rodgers deal is for 2024. Maybe football happens and the Jets stink next season. Bowers and the next Moss are in next year's class, to say nothing of Caleb Williams.

High, high odds the 2024 Jets pick is in the 20's, and a year later if you go to 2024. I know this draft isn't the best draft ever, but it's time to rebuild now (and also help Love out in his first year as a starter).

I just want the best deal. If we get better compensation by pushing it back a season, go for it. I'll take a 2024 first over a 2023 second, for example.

I could see a funky deal where it's a pick in this years draft then a conditional pick in 2025 based on him playing in 2024.
