Re: Early discussion on the 2023 offseason
I think if Nic can stay healthy, he will be better player than Ben for years to come. Nic has that Pitbull mentality in him. He build for NY. Something no one will say about Ben.
Even when healthy, Ben is third wheel at best.
Playoffs is where everyone show their true colors. Ben has a lot to prove. He can't even hold Westbrook towel, let alone being in a same conversation.

What's everyone's thoughts on David Duke Jr.? Much like Sumner I come away impressed with his ability to attack the basket whenever he gets a chance to play... Straight line and with aggressiveness... As a two-way and with a glut of wings I wouldn't be surprised if he's not back next year, but I definitely think he's got solid role player potential.

He's a 3 point shot away from being a good role player.

yep. would not be surprised at all if he ends up being the best of the rookies. Hope he's on the team next year.

I wonder if we can get away with sending Ben to some small market team where they might think they're not getting anyone great and it's their chance to "redeem a star". Although I don't know how many times that narrative can get played out.

Re: Early discussion on the 2023 offseason
thoughts on these:
J Isaacs and Fultz for Simmons (+2 picks) -- Orlando keeps getting to make draft picks bc no free agents go there and maybe they think they can make something out of Ben (same way Fultz has had his little comeback) outside of the big town spotlight.
Hayward for Simmons (+1st) -- gets us out a year sooner, throw Hayward with the 2nd unit
realistic, worth it, or no thanks?

Nope. I would prefer Nets go for Bol Bol. Young, raw and can still be developed. 7’2, can be a rebounding machine.

Absolutely not. I would rather ride out Simmons' contract then pay for that trash.

With 2 years 78m remaining contract, I don't think it's the right time of trading Ben Simmons in the coming off-season. They shouldn't waste assets just to unload him.
And they don't need salary dumping Simmons to make a move. Dinwiddie, Joe Harris, Mills, O'Neale are all on expiring contract. That's 57m. They also have a 18m TPE. That's ton of flexibility for them to make a blockbuster move. You save the picks for those potential moves instead of using it for dumping Simmons.

Re: Early discussion on the 2023 offseason
Lately I was wondering what package would you trade Bridges for?
He might be a center piece to build around, but I don't think he is untradeable right?
For example: If the Harden to Houston rumors were true (which I don't think) and they get Wemba and decide to go in win now mode. Would you trade Bridges to get our own picks back? I think I would do it.

No. There are no bridges to speak of in Houston. He belongs here.
Seriously, a bird in the hand & all that.....

Trade a bunch of Players who JV does not like to play for Zach LaVine.
Catch is you take on 3rd knee surgery Ball (40mill+ over next 2 seasons)
Simmons/Cam/Sumner/Yuta (sign n trade)/Mills for Zach and Lonzo , maybe a minor pick or 2 will be involved.

No one is going to hard cap themselves for an S&T to get Yuta.
Ball is an absolute non starter for me. His career is probably over

The Yuta S&T is to hep balance the salaries (say 5 or 6 mill per)
Ball is a very long shot to ever play NBA again agreed - but he is 41mill ish next two seasons and Simmons is over 80 mill.
Simmons goes to Bulls with a bunch of underpaid Bargain Role Players and a Promising Youngster all who seem out of favor with the Nets newly extended Head Coach.
Ball comes to the Nets with one Zach LaVine , a player who JV just might be interested in using.
Obviously LaVine is worth more but being attached to Ball makes this Trade pretty even.
Marks might even score a minor pick.

It wouldn't be the first time the Nets paid for someone's else rehab. If we can do it for KD and Simmons, we can definitely do it for Ball.

Team needs a real PF and C going forward. I'll wait til offseason to say for sure but I would be open to selling high on Claxton depending on what the return is.

Not me. Selling high? I don't think anyone knows how high, high is yet for Claxton! Plus, I'd say the team needs continuity and stability for a change. Enough of the revolving door, says I.
But ok. PF... maybe.

No Sir. One of our problems is that we dont have a homegrown star, Clax has a chance to be that to develop a culture we want to have.

Why?
Claxton is one of the best young centers in the league. It's not his fault Kyrie set fire to this place
