Nice to see Johnny Davis active on the court. He didn't look out of place. But, let's do keep a sense of perspective.

Did he have as good a game as Jalen Duren, drafted 3 spots later. Nah.
Did he have as good a game as, say, the Pistons' undrafted rookie Buddy Boeheim? No, not really -- but not a big difference.
Did he have as good a game as the Pistons' undrafted rookie Jared Rhoden? No, he didn't.

But, he looked like a guy who has the potential to be a rotation player in the NBA. &, he was certainly better than Killian Hayes overall, who went #7 in 2020.

Big thing with Johnny is he looked confident. I saw him in person at a Go-Go game a couple weeks ago and I was glad to see him be more decisive offensively.

Defensively I don’t really have a concern with him. He is active, moves his feet and can be disruptive.

Jay Huff was awful in garbage time. He was totally unprepared for the speed and athleticism of the NBA game. He committed 2 turnovers in maybe 3 touches. I know it's meaningless in such a short sample size, but it kinda surprised me. I thought he would look a little sharper.

He flew in from Florida that day having played 30 minutes the night before vs the Magic g-league affiliate. Had been in the arena only a little bit before pre-game.

Kispert's gaining confidence as a scorer but jeeeeeeze the near 0 output in any other aspect of the game is almost hard to do.

Kispert will be the guy who's coming off the bench for a championship contender when he's 30. Needless to say, that won't be the Wizards.

Ironic

as others have pointed out both recently and in some cases for the entire season, we need to tank.
So I felt no better way to tank than to play Davis meaningful minutes. Can't lose for winning.

Could not agree more. He's like a great relief pitcher in baseball. Limited on the volume of his effect, but on the margin/possession basis he is great because of his efficiency. Perfect fit for a contender.
Moving Kuz and Kispert for assets/picks would be a great for this team. Give Kisperts minutes to Davis, Jackson, and Wright next year.

Highlights were Jeff Roland interview and Christy Winters Scott in place of Drew Gooden. Killian Hayes could be good if he could shoot. Wiseman was disappointing.

I wonder if Ruland remembers our brief meeting on the concourse at Mem Stadium in Balt at the
Colts home opener in 1983 (their final season in Balt). They played DEN. This was just after
Elway was drafted by the Colts who were forced to trade him. The fans at Mem Stadium
were eager to give Elway the business and booed him off the field. Den won the game
after Elway was replaced.

I wonder if we could engineer a trade with HOU in which we trade Kispert and get Garuba + HOU 2024 2nd.

Garuba is a terror defensively and can shoot the corner 3 efficiently. He can both act as a perimeter defender (quick hands and feet) as well as be a secondary shot blocker. He will be a great compliment to Beal and Porzingas. Houston on the other hand is the worst 3pt shooting team in the NBA (by %), so they may be keen on Kispert.
