But if you move Butler you're now down to whatever you get for Butler and Bam with possibly another bad contract on the roster. Who knows if Miami will be able to move Robinson this offseason because it'll cost draft assets and you don't want to move your own draft picks if trading Butler. The FO has really put this organization in a bad position with some of the bad contracts, luckily Lowry is expiring next summer so Miami should be able to add 1-2 long term rotation players.
Luckily Miami is 2 years in on Robinson's 5 year deal, in 3 offseasons he becomes an expiring contract.

Yeah, its a bad out look we created for ourselves. No doubt.
I think to really get where we need to be we have to stop tiptoeing the line of competing for the playoffs with a dreg laden roster. We love finding hidden gems. What we need is another Wade. Most likely not finding him with the 14th pick or the g league.
Our current roster building plan of striking out of FAs is unsustainable. We got Jimmy as a massive stroke of good luck then we failed to get a legit 2nd star for him with this strategy.
Current mgmt isnt going to change, nor our team building strategy.

Stars aren't getting to free agency, they're extending with their current teams, and sometimes ask to be traded (for a ton of assets).
so unless we get 2 studs - legit huge steals in the middle of the next 2 drafts, I'm not sure how we can return to being a top 4 Eastern team.
If were not picking in the high lottery, and not adding established stars - We're treadmilling for the foreseeable future,'
That's the worst place to be IMO

I think if we look at the title teams for the past however many years, then we will see theyre pretty much all built by getting a guy in the draft. Its not a secret. Its in plain sight. Curry, Giannis, Duncan, Wade, etc.

Here's a question... How different would things be if Miami had drafted Maxey at 20 instead of Precious? You just have to make the right decisions which Miami hasn't been doing consistently lately. Precious was drafted as a Bam backup; it was a complete waste of a pick. At least with Jovic they drafted on upside.
To me, there seems to be a huge disconnect with Spoelstra and the FO on what players to keep and who they're going to continue to play. It seems very tough for Spoelstra to ask to resign Robinson at a high number and in less than 1 season in his 5 year contract to take him out of the starting lineup and actually bench him.

Bam is 100% not that guy. No way. I love him for what he is but hes Robins sidekick.
I wouldve taken Maxey too. I wouldve made some mistakes in the selection process as well. Nobody is going to get lucky enough to shoot 100% on these selections. I feel like Miami has drafted incredibly well given their draft slot. Some of those picks didnt pan out. Others did. One thing is for sure, you have to get a major major talent and then build a team well around them.

We should've drafted Maxy, big miss there.
But precious wasn't a bad pick - it's the Lowry trade that killed us.
totally **** us, one of the worst trades we ever made.

If we had Maxey, then our package for KD (Maxey+Herro) would've been more appealing last summer
