Are we surprised? Honestly Silver is a spineless toad who can be walked all over. If anything they should've done the following with Morant and other players who've done dumb ****:
1) Suspend Morant for the rest of the season+playoffs+next year all without pay. This would suck for Grizzlies fans because they honestly have a phenomenal team, but when you have a face of the league that you're trying to market going out pulling a reverse 8 mile and acting like some tough guy that's BS. Then you have the laser pointing incident in which arena employees could've gotten harmed, then the incident involving an underage kid and now you got him surrounding himself with sycophants who'll tell him everything he wants to hear with no effs given about his long-term well being.
A guy like David Stern or anybody else would've sat him down and reminded him what Stern reminded Melo: Stern told Melo straight up that I know where you and your friends live, I know when you go to sleep and when you wake up. Wanna go running on the streets no problem because you'll forfeit all your future salary and blow the opportunity of a lifetime. Just remember this: the league survived before you and it'll survive without you.
2) Miles Bridges incident. He took a plea bargain and he's on probation for 3 years+having to do a bunch of parenting classes+submit drug samples due to him dry snitching on himself taking codeine. If Silver had a spine, he'd send a memo to all 30 teams that Bridges will not be welcomed back into the league until he passes his probation. The crap he did to his wife and the scarring he did to his son and daughter is sickening.
Doing something like that would remind every player that if you want to commit crimes that affect the bottom line, you won't have a job in this league. Honestly basketball should be the least of Bridges's concerns as this guy should be in prison but because he's a pro ball player he got leniency which is BS. Sucks for the Hornets as their season was destroyed before it began but honestly if the NBA were smart they'd gift wrap them the #2 pick for Brandon Miller to convince Charlotte to renounce Bridges bird rights(they ain't getting #1 based on their history).
There's way more nonsense he's allowed to happen under his watch but I'm not gonna bother.
