Did a lotto simulation on tankathon and the top 3 were (1) POR, moved up 6, (2) OKC, moved up 11, and (3) TOR, moved up 9. We got 4.

That would be nuts.

Am I being overly optmistic in comparing Brandon Miller to Jayson Tatum/Jayson Tatum lite?

The stats look eerily similar as freshmen, though Miller has better production in very similar minutes. Similar body types etc.

Miller is a year and a half older than Tatum was as a freshman I think though.

I don't think I'd consider Miller a high end athlete like Tatum. He does play that same style of ball, but isn't as quick not as good 1 on 1 getting to his spots.

I expect Miller's ceiling to be closer to Beal than Tatum. I'd take that without a second thought.

Baylor VS UC Santa Barbara - 1:20 - TNT ( Keyonte George VS Ajay Mitchell )

that game gonna be fun af. Tomorrow Ajay will get to prove why I have him as the best PG in college basketball. Today not too many of my players.. Only Reece Beekman and Jordan Miller play I think

Parker might be a better comp, but I'm trying to remember him as a prospect and not an NBA bust. I feel like Miller is a better pure shooter and Parker projected as a better "scorer" I think.

Smith... no idea. never really saw him play before

Not saying this is a perfect comparison, but Miller is sort of like pre-injury Otto Porter Jr with a much quicker shooting release.

That might sound kind of boring, but prime Otto was similarly long/athletic and well above average, but not quite elite, on defense, a good tertiary ball handler who could help run your offense and get you a few assists per game, and was one of the most accurate 3pt shooters in the league. His issue was that he had kind of a slow shot and didn't have a gunner mentality, so he never shot a high volume on 3s or scored a lot.

I think Miller can give you a lot of the same things with his all-around game, but will also score quite a bit more, mostly from shooting a lot more 3s, which would make him a decent amount more valuable than OPJ, who was a very nice player in his own right. Miller has a lightning quick release and a gunners mindset. He could potentially develop more as an a pure iso scorer than OPJ with his mindset and tools, but he has a high baseline even if he doesn't.

Kevin Pelton ESPN+ has posted his annual "Stat Based" projections, which I always find interesting as they sometimes differ substantively from consensus subjective rankings. For instance, Scoot Henderson is no where near #2

Projections translate performance in NCAA Division I and other levels to an NBA equivalent then adjust for age and position to project value over a player's next five seasons. Lastly, I add in ranking in the top 100 for the best consensus projection.

For more on how my projections work and past examples, see here https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/16235135/explaining-kevin-pelton-nba-draft-projection-system.

Note: does not include projections for the Thompson Twins
I did not include a link to the article as ESPN+ is subscription service, so let me know if anyone wants to see comments on any particular player and I will post as I have done for Miller and Henderson below...

1. Victor W
2. Brandon Miller
Miller holds the No. 2 spot in my projections as one of the best players in the college game. (He is No. 3 in Sports-Reference.com's box plus-minus, behind a pair of upperclassmen.) At 6-foot-9, Miller's skill set is NBA-ready. His 103 3-pointers (at a 40% clip) lead all players ranked in the top 100. He hasn't been quite as accurate inside the arc (51% on 2s), but that's really the only statistical shortcoming.

3. Cam Whitmore
4. Cason Wallace
5. Gradey Dick
6. Taylor Hendricks
7. Keyonte George
8. Brice Sensabaugh
9. Derek Lively II
10. Scoot Henderson
After impressing with his development as a shooter in a pair of exhibitions against Wembanyama's Metropolitans 92 team in October, Henderson didn't play to that level against G League foes before his season was shut down on Monday. During the G League regular season, Henderson shot just 27% from 3-point range, and his 2-point accuracy slumped to 46.5% in 19 games. There's still much to like about Henderson's G League production. His projected assist rate (6.7 per 100 plays) is easily best among top-40 prospects. And Henderson is a strong defensive rebounder -- historically a positive indicator for guards. Physical playmakers have been the best bets to outperform their statistical projections. Still, Henderson's play suggests he shouldn't automatically be considered the second-best prospect after Wembanyama.

11. Jarace Walker
12. Kyle Filipowski
13. Nick Smith Jr
14. Brandin Podziemski
15. Dariq Whitehead
16. Anthony Black
17. Jett Howard
18. Donovan Clingan
19. Zach Edey
20.Will Richard
21. Baylor Scheierman
22. Terrance Arcenaux
23. Noah Clowney
24. Leonard Miller
25. Colby Jones
26. Jordan Hawkins
27. Josiah-Jordan James
28. Kel-El Ware
29. Marcus Sassur
30. Terquavian Smith
