He’s also getting better in offensive sets. Harden is like a floor coach, he is learning that Embiid pick and roll game. If he gets more consistent there we will have something truly special.

I was looking at Maxey shooting splits and he´s shooting 6 3´s per game at 41,5%. Last year he shot 4 3s per game at 42,5%. If he can keep his percentage until the end of the year that´s a great evolution: he´s shooting 2 more 3s per game, keeping his % . He´s becoming a deadly shooter with good volume. I may be wrong, but he seems to be shooting a lot more 3s of the dribble and still keeping a pretty good percentage, what is impressive. He´s getting pretty good separation shooting some iso 3s.

The next step is he becoming a better defender and getting some dribble moves: he only goes to the basket or shoot 3s, he need some iso moves to get some easy shots.

He seems more comfortable with his step back & side step 3 off the dribble. I’m hoping he learns how to leverage his shooting to breakdown his defender more effectively this offseason. But I’m sure he’ll make incremental improvements to his offensive game for the rest of his career knowing his work ethic.

The next leap in his game definitely needs to be on defensively & mentally. He’s always gonna be small so he’s can’t have mental mistakes & needs to work on his screen navigation badly. But I think he’s made noticeable defensive improvements over the course of this season so I’m not super worried.

Normally, "becoming a better defender" for a guy like Maxey would involve hiding him on the other teams weakest offensive player.

However, with Harden... that's a luxury they can't afford.

That's always gonna be a problem with those two.

27th ranked defense over the last 6 games. The backcourt of Harden and Maxey on defense is going to be tough to overcome to win a championship I think. Hopefully they figure it out fast.

I'm really liking the team this year. Might be their best Embiid team. But why, oh why, do they have to play the Celtics in the 2nd round :(

I think Maxey has the requisite size/length/quickness to be a good point of attack defender. I think his D is more of an issue in the Harden centric lineups where you'd like to be able to just switch everything.

He was good on Garland last game. I think his great improvements on offense make people forget he’s still really young and it might just take a little longer on defense. There’s no reason with his physical profile that he can’t be at least an ok defender eventually.

Based on ELO Forecast of 538, we have the highest chance of winning the championship at 21%

Can't believe they got into the NBA prediction game.

I’m now a believer that we’re a real title contender. Mostly because the game has clicked for Embiid & he’s playing at an insane level. Our offense feels sustainable in the playoffs for the first time ever.

We’ve got the depth, continuity, and star power to win it all. Celtics are still a bad matchup for us and Milwaukee is awesome but I think we’re the best team in the East.

The issue is that it doesn't matter if we are the best team in the NBA overall, if Celtics are a bad matchup for us and the team is mentally petrified when we face them, we will lose.

I hope i am wrong but i still do not trust the team. They have talent but they have been consistently underachieving in the postseason and i would put the blame mostly on Embiid. As i said i would be happy to be wrong but i am not sure that there are that many examples of underachieving teams suddenly winning the title.

This current stretch shows the game of course clicking for the MVP, but also Harden and Maxey, sometimes the whole team.

When they're maximizing their offensive potential and playing good defense they're the best team in the league. Can they always maximize it? Considering this is the first time they have for a stretch.... IDK. But their 3pt%, Joel's efficiency all of their top 4 players ability to be efficient, Harden's ability to facilitate... Should be.

I would put the over/under at 9-3 for the last 12 games of the season.

The games that I think we're most likely to lose are @ Phoenix (B2B), @ Milwaukee, and @ Atlanta (B2B, fighting for playoff lives). @ Chicago and vs. Boston will also be tough.

Ultimately, I think we end up with the 2nd seed but am still hopeful for 1st.

Gonna be a massive hater and debbie downer but this run is fugazi IMO. And until they prove otherwise I just know the playoffs will end the same way it always has so theeeerrrreeee.

But no seriously I just don't think we match up well w/ the Celtics so as nice as this run is...I'm not setting myself up for pain again. Hope Biid gets his MVP so we can move on to bigger things but also I think that requires Doc leaving and to his credit, he's done enough to get another year himself so blaaah

The 5 out offense with Horford can be countered in the playoffs and if shots aren't going in. The bigger need is for Philly's offense to show up. They can switch everything, which can make Philly iso heavy or 4 out 1 in heavy if they just stop running p&r.

I do believe that Philly has enough defense that they can protect the paint with Joel and run the Celtics off of the three-point line.

Celtics best counter is to play defense like they did last year, not this year. I never trust an offensive forward team that spams three-point shots that don't have Klay and Steph... Who btw attack the rim a lot with off ball movement.

Celtics are still a bad matchup for us but the difference this year is Embiid is good enough to negate that advantage imo. Previously, he was easily frustrated by their defense but now he will absolutely wreck their front line in a 7 game series.

I say f*ck it let’s exercise all our demons in this title run. Beat Boston in round 2, beat Giannis in the ECF, and beat Jokic in the Finals. If Embiid is healthy (big if obv), I think we’re the best team in the league.
