Would not be surprised to see Oladipo shelved for the remaining games here. Considering his lack of shooting and being extreme turnover prone. Can't believe some thought he could actually be a capable PG. Honestly I think the Heat just want him to opt out of his deal this summer for cap savings. Right now Vincent/Lowry and Herro/Strus makes more sense to the them then trying to squeeze in Dipo's ill fit into this mix.

As for Yurtseven I'm thinking his agent shops him around the league heavily and they will find a home for him. I don't think Yurt or the agent can trust Spo at this point that he has what's best in mind for him. I think Yurt was more of a front office project that Spo refused to buy in. Cody Zeller on the other hand I could see them bringing him back. Spo likes the way he moves and obviously trust what he brings to the table at the backup Center spot. He'll also be a super cheap option to bring back next year.

Re: 2023 Miami Heat Regular Season Thread - To play in, or not to play in
So lets tackle the elephant in the room. Yurtseven is and will always be an average center. Has nothing amazing in his game or does nothing above average to were you can put him in a position to be effective in limited minutes unless you tailor your offense/defense design to hide his deficiencies. His best attributes rebounding & midrange shooting are two things that will never work in our offense.
Why, because Miami shows and flashes the center on rotations/overhelping putting them out of position and the game becomes gang rebounding not individual so you lose his advantage, thus his slow foot speed becomes a hindrance to the recovery. Also he has not been able to stay healthy, nagging injuries have prevented him from getting consistent minutes for someone to even do a proper assessment of him as an overall player to see growth or improvement to continue to invest.
Spo has always considered him a backup big in situational minutes he can control, ie never end of game or tight game situations, hence why he gets zero playing time as a backup during tight minutes, he would rather play small, fast and with better shooters. Yurtseven is in a pickle in this team, on one hand he does not fit our direction on play style, and on the other hand he also has not been able to show in his limited stint to be more than a run of the mill back up big perhaps more third string back up big.

Butler is now +22 in calculated ORTG-DRTG moving him up to being tied for 6th best calculated ORTG-DRTG for 20+ ppg guys in the last 25 years. I didn't expect him to stay around +20 but he's still around that number.

The bench, I suspect, will be used situationally based on matchups.
Dipo's time will come again.
He would be well served to make himself into a useful off-ball slasher who is capable of generating offense when he's not involved in the action.

Surprised we shelved Dipo. I guess we’ve been trying to make this work for the better part of 3 years and it just hasn’t to this point.
$8m player option though. I guess if he opts in, it’s insurance and a movable expiring.

Dipo will be part of the Kyrie or Dame package this summer
If you all remember, this happened last season too. Team just wants meshing well when he played for whatever reason. I still think we should’ve let it ride a couple more games with Lowry in his new role next to Dipo to see if they could cook something up but it is what it is. Dipo was still able to step in during the playoffs and have a big impact in certain games

Our hope rests with bam or herro...Kobewade11 wrote:al bondiga wrote:Call me crazy but, If we get to the playoffs this year , jovic Has to get a lot of playing time, Even though he is obviously not that good And too young... Jovic is not seeing any significant playing time this year - certainly not in the playoffs.
Bam cant be the alpha, he doesn’t have the mentality that he is going to go out every night and impose his will.
I’m indifferent on Oladipo. I like the guy, but he’s played in 49 games in 3 seasons. He has qualities a winning team can use but the question is how often do you keep bringing someone back to play a portion of the season.
No other choice I can foresee
Let's be real, they have good probabilities of working out... Not a particularly high Probability, But Good one None the less
Herro-bam And maybe one day we get lucky enough to get a 3rd wheel That is great enough to take over
jb Was close but...

I guess I don't get it with Miami fans. What exactly has this FO done since LeBron left that makes you feel like yeah... with Bam and Herro we can build a winner? Luckily when the FO refused to pay Wade he left and talked Butler into Miami and with that Butler forced his way there so the franchise got a top level player for a very low price and then.... the FO didn't build upon that luck, but it'll be different this next build! The time to strike was when you had the possibility of major contributors on rookie contracts, yet this FO didn't do much of anything.
So now... Bam's going to turn 26 soon, trading Butler means taking a step backwards, so how many years are you willing to waste of Bam's prime? 2, 3, 4 years? Just with Bam, Herro, Robinson and Jovic, that's ~87-92 million wrapped up in 4 contracts for the next 3 years leaving around 40 million under the cap to fill out the roster (unless there's a sizable bump in the salary cap)? You have to look at your financials to see what this team could build.

If Jimmy's body can hold up he has the type of game that will age well. Doesn't rely on athleticism or quickness. Just physical and savvy. He has at the least 2-3 more solid seasons in him (prob w/ load management)
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

The physicality is why I don't trust his game aging well.
Even his midrange is hit or miss.
A dude like KD is a different story.

If Jimmy's body can hold up he has the type of game that will age well. Doesn't rely on athleticism or quickness. Just physical and savvy. He has at the least 2-3 more solid seasons in him (prob w/ load management)
The physicality is why I don't trust his game aging well.
Even his midrange is hit or miss.
A dude like KD is a different story.
Jimmy a lot like Wade, his a will sort of player. Wade wld will his jumpers to go in. As Spo stated recently % goes out the window as players such as Jimmy & Wade are killers.
Athleticism based players play above the rim. All that jumping & landing takes a toll. Jimmy stays on the floor & uses savvy & bumps to get to the paint. Kinda similar to the way Andre Millers game aged well in his 40s w/ the veteran savviness & zero athleticism. Jimmy has the same high IQ & Nack for scoring.
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

IceColdCubano wrote:So lets tackle the elephant in the room.
I'm very disappointed with his performance. I thought we had a new potential good player. But I don't understand why not try playing him with Bam. Since he can shoot the ball, the initial idea before he got hurt was to play them together. I doubt that Spo will try it.

Physicality and effort level is what ages well as long as the player is professional about his body which Butler is and both Miami and Butler are taking steps to make sure he's going to be good for a number of years. He's under contract for the next 3 years and could be a very good 2-way player late into his 30s if he wants to play that long, especially if he continues to work on his 3 ball.

I don't think we should completely shelve Oladipo for the remainder of the season. When the playoffs start, I'd rather count on Victor for quality minutes than Max Strus.
Ya'll are quick to forget how he made Jaylen Brown's life miserable during that ECF.. and with the way things are going we're likely headed towards a clash with the C's in the first round.

What? He's going to be 29. I guess moving Duncan would allow Miami to use this younger player in his place.
