Marlins announce handful of roster moves

The Marlins announced a handful of 40-man roster moves Thursday.
Outfielder Reggie Abercrombie and right-hander Jose Garcia were claimed via waivers by the Astros and Athletics, respectively.
Catcher Paul Hoover, outfielder Todd Linden and infielder Jason Wood were outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The athletic Abercrombie, 26, made some strides at Albuquerque last season, but he never fulfilled his potential during his three seasons in the organization.
Garcia entered spring training with a great shot to make the club, but he was sidelined with elbow inflammation and ultimately underwent Tommy John surgery. He won't be ready to pitch again until mid-2008.
At 37, Wood spent his first full season in the majors serving as the club's primary backup corner infielder and one of the club's primary pinch-hitters. Wood has agreed to a minor-league deal and will be in Jupiter next spring with a good chance to make the club again.
Like Wood, Linden and Hoover would return on minor league deals and likely receive invites to spring training.
The Marlins' 40-man roster is at 36.
MARLINS MOVE TO 790
As expected, the Marlins completed their radio relocation, announcing a multi-year contract with 790 (WAXY) The Ticket, which replaces WQAM 560-AM as the club's flagship station.
Starting next season, 790 will broadcast all Marlins games in addition to 15 spring training contests.
