Under 20,000 points draft play-in: damecurry vs durantbird (durantbird advances)

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Please ensure you give a rationale for your vote; votes with no explanation will not be counted.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes advances. We are playing to 3 votes if it takes all night**

SF: Grant Hill 97' - 15.7 - MVP (3), All NBA First
PF: Jayson Tatum 22' - 20.6 - All NBA First, 35% 3

Bench: Draymond Green 21' - 6.0 - DPOY (3)
Bench: Brent Barry 01' - 6.0 - 48% 3
Bench: Thabo Sefolosha 12' - 3.7 - 44% 3

Rotation:
PG: Mark Price 38 / Brent Barry 10
SG: Bruce Bowen 28 / Brent Barry 12 / Thabo Sefolosha 8
SF: Grant Hill 36 / Jayson Tatum 10 / Brent Barry 2
PF: Jayson Tatum 28 / Draymond Green 20
C: Joel Embiid 38 / Draymond Green 10

87.9/88

vs

PG: Magic (40) / Moncrief (8)
SG: Moncrief (24) / Green (24)
SF: Peja (34) / Elie (14)
PF: Bosh (22) / Rodman (26)
C: Zo (36) / Bosh (12)

Matchup:
- Defensive assignments: Embiid vs Mourning, Tatum/Draymond on Bosh, Hill/Tatum on Peja, Price/Barry on Moncrief, Bowen on Magic.
- We match up well here, with some nice matchups like Bowen on Magic, Embiid on Mourning, and Hill/Tatum as both solid defenders on Peja. Price on Moncrief isn't ideal, but with Moncrief being more of a slasher and Draymond/Embiid helping, we'll be fine. Our versatile defenders will also make life hard for Magic, with Bowen/Barry/Sefolosha/Hill/Tatum/Draymond being able to guard him. On the other side, Embiid can challenge Zo far from the basket. Bosh will struggle handling Tatum, as he's best used against more traditional bigs.
- With Bosh being dame's second best spacer in the starting lineup, we have a significant spacing advantage with Price-Bowen-Tatum-Embiid-Barry-Sefolosha, and great facilitators like Price, Hill and Draymond.
- Dame brings some nice defenders off the bench but we provide also great defense as well as better offense with Barry and Draymond.

Roster

Magic Johnson (1990-91) : 12.4 FGA
Sidney Moncrief (1981-82) : 13.3 FGA
Danny Green (2013-14) : 7.4 FGA
Alonzo Mourning (1998-99) : 13.8 FGA
Peja Stojakovic (2003-04) : 17.0 FGA
Dennis Rodman (1989-90) : 6.0 FGA
Chris Bosh (2012-13) : 12.1 FGA
Mario Elie (1994-95) : 6.0 FGA

Total : 88 / 88 FGA

Rotation

PG: Magic (40) / Moncrief (8)
SG: Moncrief (24) / Green (24)
SF: Peja (34) / Elie (14)
PF: Bosh (22) / Rodman (26)
C: Zo (36) / Bosh (12)

Write-Up

Defensive Match-Ups: Sid on Price, Peja hides on Bowen, Magic/Green/Elie guard Hill, Rodman/Bosh on Tatum, Zo on Embiid, Bosh/Magic on Dray, Sid/Green/Rodman on Barry.

- As with most of my teams this one came out a little untraditional but the pieces are all there, DB ignores Danny Green and strongly mis-represents our spacing in his Bosh comment. Magic was a great shooter even out to 3 at this point, peak Sid was a good mid-range shooter not just a slasher, this is a good season of Elie with good 3pt%, really Rodman's my only non-shooter as Zo's good from mid-range.

- We have a wealth of defensive options that we can switch through, if Hill's killing Magic we can replace Peja with Green to hide Magic on Bowen without sacrificing spacing. Rodman will play most of his minutes lined up with Tatum to give him a terrible time all series, this is peak Pistons DPOY Rodman not the cheap Spurs version.

- Bowen's giving up a lot of heft/weight to Magic, Price can't stay in front of Crief and with Peja/Bosh spacing out his better perimeter defenders my back-court's gonna eat in this series. Embiid can't help hard off Zo because you better believe he'll eat you alive on 18 footers.

- I have the best player on the court, I clearly have the deeper team and I have several match-up advantages I can exploit. We have great answers for DB's best players I'm not sure where he finds an edge and if he does we have the depth to switch things up and clamp down on it.

Gl DB, it's a strong, interesting team you put together.

Not a fan of Moncrief sharing the court with Magic. Both of them need the ball in their hands to maximize their offensive impact. Zo is a terrific defender, but he's clogging the paint for Moncrief's slashing game. The same goes with Rodman coming off the bench. Durantbid has superior spacing, which likely means he has a more efficient offense.

I think Durantbird has a superior team and fit here. Like Flaco said, the clogging of the paint takes away from the top end of dames roster.

While the fit isn't perfect I have durantbird as the more talented team pretty easily here with imposing Hill-Tatum-Embiid frontcourt and still a good PG in Price. Magic/Moncrief aren't ideal fit either so dame's isn't perfect. Vote durantbird.
