This team so frustrating this season, we cant close out games and choke in clutch... o well at least we get a day rest before we face the Warriors.

Only positive thing I can say is outside of the 2 missed Hardy drives to the hoop in the 3rd he looked good.

Up by 16, MEM makes a run, ZERO time outs to stop the run. Mavs didnt score for almost 6 minutes at the end and the only guy who could score anything sat on the bench for almost entire 4th. Their main offense was Kyrie going 1v X most of the time (and he was already gassed and probably a bit injured).

THJ 25 mins 1/4, -25 ------ Hardy 19 mins 7/13 20pts, +1 .. :banghead:

Also, another Grizzly role player career high points vs Mavs.

I think I figured out why Kidd doesn’t like to use timeouts. It means they have to draw up a play, which this coaching staff can’t do.

I would love to see some situational stats for conversion rate out of timeouts. Mavs have to be near the bottom.

Props to Dillion Brooks. He’s surpassed Draymond Green as the most annoying player on/off the court, but he wore Irving down. Tough defense all game long.

Haha. I imagine our timeouts go something like this:

0:01-0:09 Luka complaining to ref
0:10 Luka finally makes it to the team huddle
0:11-0:25 Kidd gives basic instruction/motivation. The crap you see on tv when they show the coaches in the huddle. “You have to block out” “Keep playing hard” “Keep shooting if you’re open”
0:25-0:30 Kidd starts looking for his clipboard. He knows exactly where it is, but he’s trying to buy some time so he doesn’t have to draw up a play.
0:31-0:35 Kidd scans around the sidelines/baseline thinking this is the timeout where a reporter interviews him
0:36-0:50 Kidd finally starts working up a play, but his marker goes bad and it stops working. This was part of his plan. It’s his go to marker. The one that never works. He shakes the marker vigorously, but it still doesn’t work. He tries scribbling and pressing harder, still no luck. He even tries licking the marker tip. Dumb move, but it still doesn’t work.
0:51-0:59 An assistant finally gets Kidd a marker that works. He starts drawing up another play. The play actually looks half decent. The players are buying in. But, suddenly Luka realizes the play that Kidd drew up has 7 offensive players. Clearly, this play isn’t allowed.
1:00-1:10 Kidd signals to the water boy for a cup of water. He’s thinking of having McGee bump into him so that water will spill onto the court. Surely it will be believable this time. I mean, McGee is a big guy. He’s athletically clumsy. He’s in the Shaqtin’ a Fool HOF. Somehow McGee screws this plan up. Go figure.
1:11-1:15 the timeout ends without a play. Luka and Kyrie do paper, rocks, scissors to see who gets the iso.

I don’t think you can give Kyrie a max. He’s only going to get more and more injury prone with age. He would be eating up too much salary cap and the Mavs would be lucky if he played 50% of the games. It would suck to lose DFS and Dinwiddie for nothing, but the Mavs should look at a complete rebuild.

Agree. Mavs are better off without the cancer.
Warning-

Dont call players cancer.

We missed Luka so much tonight, we went short.
Not a bad game after all, Aldama and Kennard won the game for them this time. Last time was Roddy's game.

Their role players step up every game, our are bad... THJ horrible lately. Maxi looks like a 90yo.

Hope Irving injury isn't serious but at the end of the game he was very bad. No lift in his shoots.

Great game for the haters, Get out of the sewers, it's time to celebrate.
