President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

We all knew. I guess we know for sure now. Reagan was scum. I'm glad he died a horrible death. He deserved it.

Certainly agree about Reagan. The hostage crisis was important, but I remember the economy with 14%+ inflation was a bigger factor.
I voted for Barry Commoner. The election was going to be a landslide so figured may as well vote for someone I liked.

This could go very badly for extremist Trump supporters. The New York cops are not as well trained to deescalate as DC cops are. People are going to die.

The NYC police are very well trained, and are experienced handling demonstrations. They are also very pro Trump, so I don’t I don’t see them pre-disposed to come down hard on demonstrators.
I don’t think this is the right case to pursue against Trump. It’s not illegal to pay hush money. Campaign fund violations can be felonies, but other than hard core democrats I don’t see the general US voter giving a damn about this.
The Georgia charges are far more serious. Basically, trying to overthrow an elected president. Better to focus on that case, without the NY distraction.

Hope the Trump protestors' white privilege is enough to keep them from being summarily executed. Those crisis actors better be well paid.

CNN says online chatter nowhere near the intensity or specificity of what it was prior to Jan 6

This quote is interesting: "And until Trump tells his supporters when and where to show up in his defense, as he did before the Capitol riot..."
Really that is what he should be arrested for. But it would be hilarious for him to go down for the Stormy Daniels debacle, don't get me wrong.

yeah, i agree with this. getting dinged for campaign finance or falsifying business records doesn't carry a prison term even as a felony. idk why this case is being brought.
the Mar a Lago and Georgia indictments are orders of magnitude more important.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXXII
I don't think a President should commit felonies, I don't care if there's a prison term associated with it or not.
If you falsify records in order to commit a campaign finance felony, and a grand jury indicts you for it, you are a bad person and you should face the consequences of your actions, ESPECIALLY if you are a former or wanna be president. Shame on all of you for suggesting otherwise.
Crime is bad. Presidents should not do crimes. Especially one who had his followers chant "Lock her up" for baseless accusations against a political opponent. Karma.
Looking like a big nothingburger so far anyway. Sigh.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXXII
if there is such a thing as karma, it's taking its sweet time with Trump. It was only 5 years between when Caesar crossed the rubicon and the assassination. Trump's been a demogogue for 8 years now; a racist sex pest for decades more.
i just don't think issuing trump the equivalent of a parking ticket is some great karmic convergence or sufficient comeuppance.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXXII
Hey parking tickets suck. It's better that he get one than not. "Meh he's too wealthy why even bothering prosecute his crimes" is a weak argument to me. Crime is crime. Being rich and white and politically powerful is all the more reason to hold him accountable, to set an example. No one is above the law.
Again, still looking like a nothingburger. It's after 5 and no indictment in the news yet.
