We have Tre, Malaki, KJ, Diop, and Mamu in the last 3+ minutes.
Two consecutive paint floaters given up. We have to work on the P&R coverage.

I miss the Bullets.
But I'll forgive them if they beat us
Is it the colours? Haven't looked into it, but I wonder if it has something to do with the cherry blossoms?
At least the home team has the lighter colour.
p.s. Once again I only see notification of your +1 not of your response quotes. Have to let the powers that be know.
Yeah its the cherry blossom thing. Many people seem to think its great. It looks like a gender reveal to me

Double checking whether it was the colours or design. Some of the city ones look weird but then once I hear the explanation I can appreciate the idea even if it's still not my taste.
Some have described this as the Pepto pink. Though again I appreciate the idea.
What a 4TH Q...

4TH Q: SPURS 124 WIZARDS 136
Well I only got to watch the second half, and after a competitive 3RD Q, something had to give - it was either us sustaining an incredibly high O or really needing our D to step up, and neither happened. We instead tied for our lowest scoring output (with the 1ST Q) and allowed the highest points against in the 4TH.
Four 30+ - point Qs allowed, 15-30 3s allowed, and we got them to the FT line 19-26.
Both teams made 51FGs in total, but ours came on 101 attempts, 16 more FGAs than our opponent, who shot a scorching 60% from the field. We did have 35 assists which is excellent, one of the few games we've lost when reaching that mark. All five starters scored in double figures, and seven Spurs in total. Only Blake was scoreless on 0-6, 0-1 from 3.
I mentioned earlier about how he tends to expose the ball like a target to get swatted away. His finishing at the rim needs to get better. Tre was in a similar position in his first year - had the craftiness to get to the rim, but had trouble finishing versus bigger, quicker players. Blake is taller, lankier, and has great speed. I have faith he will work on the rim finishing tools but right now he doesn't have these in his toolkit yet.
I do like that he led the bench with 8 assists, that's terrific. He's averaging 1.3FTAs per game. Hopefully with better drives he can find ways to get to the FT line more often as well.
Blake and Graham were our bench back court and they combined for 14 assists - great! but 2-14 from the field, including 1-7 from 3. **** happens.
Doug led the bench with 18 but finished the 4TH 1-4, 0-1 from 3 so again while feeding the hot hand is the right play, defending effort always is.
Barlow did a solid job on their Unicorn, and we did well to double him. But Zinger didn't even play in the 4TH when we got clobbered in the paint. Though we won PITP 64-58, we also allowed 7-8 in the 4TH Q in and around the restricted area. This was on some doubling of post players but then nobody rotating over on help D to cover the back door cutter for some dunks, wonky P&R coverage for too easy floaters right in the middle, and then allowing three 3s in the right corner. We kept giving it to them; they kept running it.
Barlow (4 boards, 1 assist) and Julian (3 boards) led us with 2 blocks each. Though Julian's usually a bullseye from the arc, he went 1-4 but 5-8 overall, scoring in the paint, at the top of the key, in a non-paint 2, and a 3. Nice. Even nicer, he finished with a new career high 12 points in the process. When the money shot's not falling, his finding other ways to contribute on both ends is bodes well.
Keldon led us with 30 minutes, 30 points on 11-17, 3-5 from 3 (good shot distribution), 5-9FTs (unusually inefficient, but the effort to get to the line and get calls was terrific). He also led us with 10 boards (tied with Mamu for team high 3 on O), and had 4 assists. He took ONE non-paint attempt on the right baseline in the 1ST Q, missed it and was all nah back to the bread and butter! ALL of his shots were paint and 3s thereafter. That's fine. But the expansion of his game in terms of shot distribution, how he's getting his points (lefty drives, nice glass finishes), getting to the FT line AND sharing the ball with others stands out.
It's something we hope that Malaki develops over time. He was great scoring 7-15, though only 1-6 from 3, for 15 points. But no trips to the FT line, and more glaringly, no assists stands out. He's averaging 2 assists per game and that's even with his tunnel vision tendencies. And though he's a scorer first and one can't improve everything all at once, we do want a more fleshed out game, especially if his shot selection comes at his own or the team's expense. It's all connected.
Tre had our other double double with 10 points (5-9, 0-1 from 3) and 12 assists, and chipped in 2 boards (1 on O), with a team-high 2 steals. Love his improved finishing at the rim. Would love it if he were a floor stretching threat. He's only 20% from 3 on the road this season. He's up to 2.4 attempts from 3 this season so hopefully we see him make teams pay for leaving him open. He should spend some time with quick trigger Graham. But I don't mean to do disparage his game by focusing too much on what he didn't do - just noticed the shot distribution and selection. He was wonderful for us, getting his shots in the paint, having three chances just around it, too. So as with our rookie guards, the three-level potential is there, now for the making the most of it and realizing it. Put these on the to-do list.
Swiss Army knife Diop was back to using his toolkit well scoring 20 on 8-13, team high 4-5 from 3, 0-2FTs, and 7 boards (1 on O). I sometimes wonder what kind of player he could be if he got consistent minutes game in, game out or whether he'll be a perpetual tease with the flashes of coordinated craftiness. Either way, he's averaging career highs this season, after which he's looking at impending UFA status. At 27, and with knowing our system and fitting into it so well, I wonder if we keep him or if he's looking over his shoulder and seeing Julian (RFA) and Barlow (RFA). If they've pushed him to play better and we keep all three, great. With guys fighting for jobs, it's nice to see all of them step up.
Mamu provided 10 points on 5-8, 0-2 from 3, 5 boards (3 on O), and 3 assists. His impact compared to Roby's has been far broader and more positive. It's hard to overstate the difference between the two in terms of hustle and team play. Mamu has averaged 9.1/6.3/1.9 on 40% from the field, 36% from 3, 70% FTs in his 10 games with us. He's younger, bigger, more hungry, and very team oriented. What a pick up. Also RFA, so we have some decisions to make this off-season.
Until then, we have a few games left in which we keep fighting to play together for the full 48 on both ends. We rebounded well (43-41 against overall, but 11-6 on O boards) and we only had 5TOs which feels like it may be a season low. So as ever, some things to work on, some things to build on.
