I miss our guys who got traded to the Nets.
Given our current record since the trade, I don't think our overall win lose record would be much different had the trade not happened.

We had an easy schedule, we would have more wins.
Dont forget that we also spent UNPROTECTED picks. We could've add Vanderbilt etc for that.

Still crazy that Kyrie demanded out when he did.
And it’s exactly why Dallas fans should have ZERO concerns when it comes to will he or won’t he re-sign.
He was playing on a team that looked great. Had went on an 18-1 run at one point or whatever it was, looked great both ends of the floor, had a deep team as well as two mega stars at the top end, were 4th in the standings and looking like they would have probably finished top 3 if KD stayed healthy. It looked absolutely primed for a title run. And he only had like 25 games left on his contract before being a free agent so it wasn’t like it was a now or never.
Then he just decides to blow it up out of nowhere. Why? Not because he was desperate to get to LeBron and only Lebron. Not because he dreamed of Dallas. Not because his team couldn’t win… but because he wanted a max. That’s it. He wanted a max and they wouldn’t give it to him so he was literally willing to blow apart a title contending team with 25 games to go of the season and his deal for the singular reason he wanted to punish a team who wouldn’t pay him and get somewhere that would.
Think about that. He essentially **** a title, I want anywhere else that’ll pay me.
And Dallas will pay him. And not only that, Dallas have the advantage that many other teams don’t of lower state income tax so he keeps more of that max contract.
All he cares about is being paid. Demanding out when and how he did puts no doubt to that. So if you’ll pay him, which you pretty much have to now, then he’ll stay.
Your problem is that he’s shown winning isn’t really the be all and end all for him. If it happens, it happens, if it doesn’t, then he’s not bothered as long as he gets paid.
That said, do everything you can this off season to surround him and Luka with defensive guys and you absolutely can contend next season.
Luke/Kyrie with literally any defensively sound players and it’s a contender.

In addition to adding better defenders/rebounders around Luka/Kyrie they need a more experience HC in my opinion.

Kyrie has been 50.4/38.9/93.1 in Dallas, all above his career averages.
Yet I believe Mavs have a losing record in the games he played or losing record in games in which both he and Luka played?
So the Mavs have to question if it's worth paying max or super max (he's probably not eligible) to a player who hasn't turned the team into a winner.
OTOH, if they let him walk, they've also lost assets, a couple of rotation players and draft assets. At least with him under contract, he could potentially be traded and get some assets back.
But supposedly the Lakers are no longer interested, they probably will keep some of the players they've acquired in trades, giving them extensions so they don't need to sign a max player.
Maybe a team like Orlando would pay a max or trade for him since he's still shooting at elite efficiency.

They’re not letting Kyrie walk nor should they. If they can get the right mix of players around them and get a more experienced HC (that leans to the defense) then Kyrie and Luka can work together. We’ve seen the potential, the rest of the team just sucks.

Once again the box score whores are in full force. Kyrie is a toxen, and does not play a lick of D. But thats what Euroleague endorses, look at our superstar who can't guard a door, or work out to get himself in shape so he isnt always injured. But he'll blame the refs and eveyrone else instead of taking an ounce of accountability.

Let's do a challenge.
For one week: Neither of you quote or reference each other.
No things like 'haters', 'cancer', no "I am ignoring you, but here's me quoting you", no he doesnt know anything about basketball, no his English broken, no whatever.
Cool?

Great.

Enjoy the week ahead.

This has been an experiment but we must see what happens this off-season to see what direction and flexibility we have.

If the Mavs max out Kyrie, can they add any other players earning more than the MLE?
Also what is going to happen with Wood, do they resign him whether or not they extend Kyrie?

Would have to be S&T
Low chances of Wood re-signing, don't think either party is interested
Defense wins draft lotteries!

No way you guys letting Kyrie walk. Not after giving DFS and unprotected pick. Also, if you guys will end up in top 10. Marks been flirting around with most players not named Bridges. CamJ, CamT and a pick for yours top 10 and Bertans sound fair?

Only the fans have dreams of Kyrie walking. Nico and Cuban rolled the dice on Kyrie because they wanted to sell the idea of him staying long term. So i could say with confidence that Dallas wants to sign him long term. Kyrie walking is up to himself whichever path he decides to take. That's up to him, not on Dallas.

Kyrie make his team lose yet again. Last 6 years, last 3 teams. Kyrie comes, his team LOSES.
Shout out for Kyrie to suck and make Cavs #1 draft pick team for his first 3 years.

The drop off in defense is overblown. Spence couldn't defend a traffic cone and DFS' defense is okay but not All NBA great. People need to chill when referring to DFS' defense. He's not locking down anyone.
DFS was our best defender by far
Pointing the obvious.
Our FO sucks. Made the team worse with a win-now move.

You don't want to be on the other end guarding him. He'll show you what 27 PPG looks like.
Trading for Kyrie is a very scary proposition for the playoffs. You see the future.
Kyrie is a good guy and he lets 27 scored on both ends for equality. To acquire him, you trade main rotation players. Losing DFS is conceding more points too. Overall a minus for the team.
All-time great trade to tank the defense and rebounding.

Trading an unprotected 1st for Irving is basketball malpractice. Kyrie literally destroyed the Nets with his garbage. Cuban's decision to do this after letting Brunson, who is a more impactful player than Irving is and is an actual functioning adult, is so baffling. I feel for your fanbase, but I'll take the pick.
