Let Bertans expire. Don’t offer Kyrie anything. Let THJ expire. Trade Luka for tons of picks and a promising talent or two. This team needs cap space and picks. Tank for the high picks. That's a horrible idea...draft is a lotery...what are the chances Mavs get a great Player in the draft :banghead: ...that could mean 10-15 years of being at the botrom of the NBA(cause no free agents are coming to Dallas)

If no free agents are coming to Dallas then you must trade for players or draft players. Listen to yourself.

1) We know that Dallas can’t improve through free agency because players won’t sign there.

2) We know Dallas can’t improve through trade because they don’t have picks or desirable players to trade.

Luka is the only player of any value on the team. Period. The team can’t improve. This team, as is, is a five seed or lower every year. If you’re a middling team you have to blow things up or you end up like the Portland Trailblazers- just talented enough to not suck but never going to contend for anything.

The LAL turned their season giving up just a first and the most overpaid player in the league.
A top10 pick in a good draft and the '27 first are good assets to use to improve this team.

All right. You do it then. Build around Luka. Make it work. Because it’s impossible. Move Bertans and THJ. Sign free agents that spurn this team every summer. They have no draft picks to move, no player anyone wants, and have bad contracts up and down the roster. So ahead and improve the team. I want to see what your proposals are.

They should've paid Brunson the 100 millon that would solve the pg position... Then try to move bertans and THJ for a legit defensive player, that would already improve the roster...
Brunson/Hardy

Luka/Bullock

I think most of you are absolutely wrong. The Nets will be in a much better position than the Mavs five years from now and they gave up two superstars.

Dude, what are you not understanding? No one wants Bertans. His contract is so awful the Mavs would have to attach picks to move him. So are they supposed to give away even more picks? THJ MIGHT can be moved (he’s more likely to be moved than Bertans), but no one is contacting the Mavs for THJ. You’re being delusional.

Brunson is a Knick now. I don’t get into the game of “well, they should have signed him”. They didn’t and he’s gone. The roster you made is a complete fantasy.

They can't be in a better position than us because we have a 24yo Luka Doncic and they don't. Simply as that.

A expiring contract still has some value, if they cant move him then just take the hit and wait it out... Mavs aren't in a hurry to win, they have a big window if they keep luka...

Their roster is objectively better than what the Mavs have now. It’s not even close. They also have tons of draft picks they can either keep or trade and they don’t have bad contracts on the books. They can build and Dallas cannot. We don’t have any pieces.

Dwane Casey looks like he's on his way out of Detroit.

Chauncey Billups looks like he's waiting to get fired.

Plus the recently fired ATL coach. - Nate Mcmillan
And none of these are good options

You’re crazy. Luka is a generational talent. He’s the type of player you tank for, not trade.

The annual tanking for high draft picks is fools good. Philly did and what do they have to show for it? Yeah they have Embiid, but still no championship. They started tanking almost 10 years ago now.

I’m fine with us losing out this season. At this point we need that top 10 pick. Whether there is a big/defender worth taking (GG Jackson or Walker from Houston) or it could be packaged to get a vet remains to be seen. We got some nice expiring contracts next year too.

I think we need to resign Kyrie and beef up the frontline and make another run. This isn’t the time to relinquish talent when the 3 best teams are in the East.

For you discount Embiid is silly. He’s the front runner for MVP right now. “Oh, they ONLY got the front runner for MVP by tanking.”

OKC has been tanking for years and they are better set up to succeed than Dallas. That’s without Holmgrem not playing a single game this season.

Keep Luka and a fifth seed is what you can expect every season until he gets angry and demands a trade. Might as well sell high.

With all due respect, I still dont get the logic behind giving up on a proven generational talent (that doesn't grow on tree, just sayin) just to have the hope to find another Luka in the draft.
I prefer the sure thing over the mistery box.

I want Luka to stay, I think he's top 3 player in the league, but the FO has **** up any chance of building a team around him, I'd listen to offers.

You will never get equal value in return... and you gotta gamble on draft picks and mavs record ain't great drafting.

I agree, resign Kyrie and beef up the front court. Also find a more experience HC to replace Kidd.

Lakers did such a huge favor to Mavs, but this team decided to just botch 2 games vs a tanking team.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
