This was actually a good game until what Pistol King said happened (putting in Nunn). I was very impressed the defense and the effort. It's funny how much more enjoyable it is to watch young players getting better than entitled vets jacking shots.

Waiting for that Deni Avidja triple double too. He's been flirting with it.

Aside from nice stat line, Deni played some of the defense we are more accustomed to see him play. Siakam was having fits with him for the most part, and he had some good defensive possessions against Barnes and OG too if I recall.

This game highlighted why it's it's easy to be frustrated with the team's brain trust.

Salaries that presumably will add up to about $70+ million next year (46 million for Beal, $25 million for Kuzma) were out, but the team lost by only 3 points more than they did AT HOME on March 4 with both Beal and Kuzma playing.

On the plus side, so nice to see Davis continue to play better. What a great story that could be if this continues.

Would have liked to see a bit more of Cooks.

Hard to think there's not some kind of tanking going on here, though it's possible that Beal, Kuzma and Morris are all genuinely unable to play.

We are absolutely tanking. WUJ put in a lineup a couple of times that included Goodwin-Gill-Kispert-Davis that got absolutely cooked.

Which goes to another topic I was thinking about, Kispert. We need to realize quickly that he is not a starter no matter the floor spacing he gives you or that he should consistently get heavy minutes. I feel like he at least gave effort last year, but he has been atrocious on defense this year with teams constantly attack him. Someone has to tell him that waving your hands is not defense, and that at some point you can't just keep backing up and that you have to hold your ground.

He's best served as a 6th or 7th man who is played with some of the team's better defenders unless he changes what he's doing on defense in the offseason. He's got the size not to be a total sieve, but boy he has been hard to watch on that end. His shooting and cutting are beautiful, but you can't stay on the floor just because you score 16 points, because you are giving up 32.

as soon as Nunn got put into the game...game was over. Nunn is the new tank commander.

Sidenote: ted gave tommy an extremely low goal this year. Make the playoffs as a #10 seed play in....and Tommy failed that. Now what?

The game on March 4th went to overtime and was much closer. I believe the Wizards were down by 20 at some point in the 4th quarter in the most recent game. Deni also left the game with an injury on March 4th and Monte Morris didn't even play. It also seemed like the Raptors played down to the level of their competition.

And also the Wizards did beat the Raptors by double digits in the previous game on March 2nd

When we were still in the thick of things there were some saying he's a perfectly fine backup because of course he had fine enough percentages to prove them to be right. Dude is a Will Barton 2.0, doesn't care much about anything other than scoring.

Nunn came to us in order to make it possible to trade Rui for 2 R2 picks.

He played well enough for Miami in '20-21 that you'd think he might have a future in the league as a journeyman, but it's an open question & for sure that's as far as it goes.

Give the kid some credit: he went undrafted in 2018, & here he is still in the league. He's made something over $13m so far, & if he's managed his money well he's a pretty rich 27 year old.

All great points, but none of which have anything to do with him as player on the Washington Wizards.

He was fine for the Wizards for a while until he wasn't. And even then I would not take too much away from these games, either Davis playing well or Nunn playing badly in these double digit losses.

Return to Washington Wizards
