Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS, RACE OR RELIGION]
Won a game that put me into the final of a mid grade basketball come last night but I came home with a knee that felt sore like it was knocked against another knee on a drive. Woke up this morning and my right knee was twice the size of the left. At 42 I think this might be the end of me finally.

Also, wrap it in Epsom salts to get the swelling out. And bulk anti inflammatories. One more ride, mate!

Took a long weekend out in the Denver area to hike. It was reinvigorating - partly because it was cold, but mostly because I've missed it so much. I think SAD kind of hit me this year and I didn't force myself out enough. Mountains are incredible obviously, but you don't need them to hike. Going to try to get out more here in the winter months.

A group of us just did the same and boy did it feel great. Fresh air, exercise, friendly conversation. Along the same lines as SAD, but I didn't realize how much the last 2-3 years of pandemic life affected my social and emotional health. The hikes were something we started beginning of the year and we plan one decent one a month.
While it was muddy, waterfalls were running, everything was green, and the wildflowers were blooming. In about a month or so the hills will be velvet brown and bone dry. Nice to enjoy it while it's here.
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.

Funny you mention it. I played soccer for the first time in about 6 weeks and it helped me come to terms that I am wildly out of shape and my body just can't do what it used to. I've had ankle/knee issues for a loooong time, lately back issues, and playing one game only exacerbated all of those issues. I guess that's what round the clock sports in your younger years will do to you. We're old.

The ice age trail is a wonderful resource and runs 1200 miles through Wisconsin and can really give you some peace as quiet out in nature.

I love the Ice Age Trail. It's no where near me now, but I walked it a lot while I was in the Madison area.
There are great places to hike up in my area (greater La Cross/Onalaska). I've never been much for a winter hiker and I think I need to change that. No reason to stop exploring when it gets cold.

Ice age trail is cool. I walked a good amount of it with my grandma who did the whole thing (in multiple trips) after she retired. She wrote a book about it.
Side note, ever have one of those days where you wish you had a reset button. Woke up to a client **** storm. Wife's out of town so was dealing with that while getting my little kids ready for school. Go to leave and the main spring on my garage door snaps. Thought we were trapped but was able to pry the heavy door up manually, but jacked my back up in the process. Going to avoid walking under any windows the rest of the day so a piano doesn't fall on my head or something.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I found that finding the right clothing and socks (especially socks) helped me a ton. I kept hiking in trail runners and with a change of shoes and socks waiting for me in the car, I was always okay.

2.5ish year old today: I'm peeing!
Me: I know, I hear it!
I go and help her/show her how to wipe.
Me: When you're done flush the toilet and wash your hands.
30 seconds later I hear the sink but no toilet.
Me: Make sure you go flush.
2.5ish year old: I did!
Me: No you didn't, go flush.
2.5ish year old: I did!
Me: I'm not doing this. If I go to the toilet am I going to see pee in there?
2.5ish year old: No.
Me: Okay. *starts walking towards the toilet*
2.5ish year old: *Jumps off stool and runs to the toilet to flush.*

Where did you go?
I just registered my car today and they have a new discount for state parks where you can get a pass for 29$ so I'm going to try to avoid being a p.o.s this summer as I was last summer and rarely got out after a utah/arizona road trip.
Inadequate perception I reckon it's from the Valium

Half the reason why I ski is just to be outside in the winter.

I went to Boulder, Morrison, and Evergreen. Hikes were in Morrison and Evergreen. Boulder was just to explore for the day (and I recommend it). Evergreen was also a great town. Morrison is probably nice but seemed much older/less to do "in town."

Nice! I can't say I'm a Boulder fan but I've done the three sisters loop in the winter and it offered some great views. A lot of my friends always want to drive hours to get somewhere, while ignoring close good spots, but the foothills have some great hikes. On your next visit I'd recommend Roxborough State Park if you haven't been. They limit parking so it's never too crowded and is a nice mix of red rocks and mountain views if you hike up Carpenter's Peak.

Oh, you're a resident! Thanks for the tip on Roxborough. A good friend of mine just moved out there a bit ago so I'll definitely be making some return visits. Will check it out.

I had no idea there is boxing at FiServ Saturday night. Main Event is Milwaukee's own Anthony Pettis vs. 54(!) year old Roy Jones Jr. I also had no idea Pettis now boxes fulltime, no more MMA. I don't really keep up with either of those.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm all for boxing in the state and would love if Wisconsin could cultivate something like the Armory in Minnesota. But that's a dire headliner on Saturday.
Pettis is very much the Hedberg joke about cooking and farming.

Does anyone have an opinion on Ballysports Plus? It seems like the cheapest way to legally watch the Brewers locally this season. If I get it now it'll also mean I'll have the Bucks for 95% of the season next year.
Does anyone use it?
