The Lakers do have someone that can make them, in LeBron. But the Clips haven't had a real point guard in years, and John Wall washed out this year.

Russ isn't what he was, but he still has great vision and can run an offense. Also, he brings energy and leadership.

They are 7-8 with Russ
They are 33-28 without Russ

Doesn't that seem like they are better without him?

He's filling a void that they had, and doing it very cheaply (700K) for a starter.

As Lowe said above, he thought it would fail. But it's working.

The team seems to finally be figuring some things out. Benching Morris (as they just did) is a massive step in the right direction by Lue.

We'll see where things go from here. As always, they need good health.

Clips have been one of those teams that's needed a point guard for years and it's just never happened for them. PG and Kawhi can do it in doses, bit isn't what makes them stars.

Russell Westbrook is looking... like he's aging much better on the Clippers. It helps that they have a need for him and have had one of the better shooting teams over the last few years.

Or does he?

With George and Kawhi sidelined, Russ led the charge and beat Memphis in Memphis tonight.

Dude can still ball at a high level.

36/4/10 tonight with only 2 turnovers.

He outplayed Ja. Pretty much says it all.

Memphis came into the game with the second-best defense in the league.

If you give up wide-open shots like you did tonight, you have to expect some of them are going to drop.

I had this game penciled in for some antics without kawhi in the lineup, and i was not disappointed.

Sad that everywhere Russ goes, his teammates quit on him. Hopefully he can one day find a team that will play alongside him instead of against him.

No matter what, i think they should go for a rebrand and name change before the new arena opens. Would be pretty cool to start fresh all around

basing it on the box score, he only had 1 turnover. & scored pretty well....

im more perplexed as to why the clippers got rid of Kennard & R. jackson... were those empty stats that those guys provided?

I love how he somehow manages to be the only starter with a negative +/- despite a good game for him lol

I'm really happy for Russ. Dude's a warrior. He'll lay it all out on the floor for your team. I never disliked the guy one bit when he was on the lakers.. not even when he lost a few games for us, it just came w the territory for me, I still embraced him.
I wish him well on the clips.

Jackson brought in Plumlee and was pretty iffy all year.

Kennard was afraid of taking wide open shots.

Losses on back to back nights for the Clips. In Memphis and New Orleans.

In the Memphis game, the Clips were rolling early but Memphis went small and the Clips could not handle it. LA lost Eric Gordon (hip) and Kawhi (rest) at halftime. Russ played poorly.

Tonight, LA lost at to the Pels. Russ had a good game, but the Clips were missing Gordon once more (and PG). Kawhi and Russ showed up big, but the Clips bench (which I think Russ led) was bad.

8-10 now in the Russ Era.

As ejftw said, Jackson was their best asset to get Plumlee. They've been unbalanced with no real backup big and no real point guards.

Kennard was basically swapped out for Gordon because they wanted a bit more defense, I'm pretty sure I saw a beat writer say. I think they felt Gordon could be a bit more of a physical defender than Kennard, if needed.

Also I think they can get out of Gordon's contract next year if they want (think it's not fully guaranteed). Not sure that's the case with Kennard.

If Bones pans out, and I think he will, that could be a great get.
