Boston will have to lose in Milwaukee, in Philly and one more time at home while we have to go 7-0 lol.
That’s the only way we are getting #2 seed.

At this point #4 seed for us is more likely then #2.

Actually, I’m very upset, as is Embiid lol. To me, there are just two teams (Bucks and Celtics) better then we are and most probably we will lose to one of them in the second round…. again.

Still believe tho. As always

The loss against Chicago and this current 3 game losing streak hurt too much.

Tobias is very close from averaging a 50-40-90 shooting season. He’s averaging 50-39.5-87.4 with 60TS%

15 games in March. 52.8-47-91.9

What stand outs to me:
- I had no idea Dennis Smith Jr was still in the league, let alone playing major minutes, let alone playing solid defense.
- is Jaden McDaniels actually that good on defense? I did not have that impression.
- If I never see another one of these headshot plots, it’ll be too soon. You’re already obscuring 80% of the information: just give us some names for the outliers.

A bit of a relief Boston beat Milwaukee. 3rd seed pretty much secured at this point. Rooting for Boston to get the #1 seed from here on out.

Somethings I saw on ISO defense that is quite interesting
- Tatum is a very good ISO defender .72ppp (sorry about my earlier take)
- marcus smart (1.11ppp) wow
- jaylen brown (1.16ppp) wow
- brogdon (1.15ppp) wow

2 most targeted on their ISO defense
- Grant Williams and Al Horford (.98 each)

Sixers
- maxey (.78ppp) wow
- most targeted Niang, (.86ppp) wow
- 2nd-3rd most targeted Tobias and Harden (.87 and .93 respectively)
- Tucker (1.09ppp) wow so bad

We’re tied for 6th best based on ppp on ISO defense (.92), Celts are 22nd .96
Bucks? 25th at .99ppp

We’re second best team in the league on ISO, behind the Mavs. 4th in ppp and 2nd in the league in iso pts per game.

If im the opposing team, what i’ll do is not to hunt Maxey or Niang. Instead, i’ll hunt Harden and Embiid. Tire them out and get them into foul trouble.

The numbers are too small to derive much meaning IMO, and even if they weren't I'm not really sure what the takeaway would be. Teams don't tend to leave bad defenders in isolation, which causes problems elsewhere while scrambling to cover for them.

If we actually were good in isolation I don't imagine we'd play so much zone.

Not only that, there is a lot of context missed in there.

Maxey defends an ISO with a 4.8% frequency, Smart with almost the double 8.0%. If you consider we're one of the slowest teams on the league, that makes a lot of difference in possessions between both (and even then, in both cases this results in below 1 possession per game).

Not to even think about the fact that guys like Smart/Brown/Tatum are normally assigned to great/the best players on their opponents, which means they're defending above average ISO guys; so they probably are defending guys that score above 1 or 0.9 ppp on ISO anyways. If Smart, to name one, can reduce the ppp of an opponent from 1.20 ppp (to say a number) to 1.11 ppp that's a great result for the defense.

Guys like Maxey or Niang have good ppp defending ISO because you're hiding them on defense and letting them guard bad ISO/low frequency ISO players like FVV and your objective, in fact, is to try to negate switches hunting them, hence the low frequency. That's why their ppp looks good even if their defense is bad.

This is the same reason why Tucker looks like a bad defender there too.

70.3 TS%
51.3 3P%—6.9 att/g

Shot 45.1% on pull-up 3s, 55.4% on catch and shoot 3s, and 60.0% on drives.

If our bench is going to be trash on offense anyway, we might as well plug in an elite defender like Springer.

Maxey has the 6th best 3 pt. % in the nba, making 43,6% of his 3s. With his numbers he should be shooting way more 3s. Although he upped his volume this year by 2, hes still the 46th player who shoots more 3s in the nba, with 6.2 3s per game. With his % he should be shooting atleast 8-9 3s per game. He can shoot that volume of threes, while still keeping his percentage in that 38-40% range.

His evolution has been amazing, let's see if he can even get better in year 4, especially be an even more dynamic scorer!
