Awful coach.

lol we're literally #1 in the league in net rating. #4 defense in the league (#1 since rob return to lineup). 2nd fewest losses in the league (fewest in the east) to teams under .500. Top 3 in both offensive and defensive efficiency over the past 10 games (no other team is top 5 in both)

They literally just led the team to the NBA finals last season! And the real leader on this team is Al. Plus this season we added additional veterans who can help lead (Brogdon, Griffin) and Mazzulla is a good leader too.

Yeah.

Save your energy.

Way too many embarrassing losses this season regardless of those stats - mixed in with the beautifully played wins.

If not for the latest travesties in DC & Houston, we actually would be playing for the 1 seed TONIGHT!

All that said, I MOST DEFINITELY want to be wrong, beat everyone in our path, & win #18 - as much as or more than anyone on this Board.

I’m gonna reserve judgement for a bit on whether Mazzulla is a great leader or not.

Not saying he isn’t but don’t think you can say he is with certainty yet either and please don’t quote me things his players say publicly or press releases. Lol.

He deserves time just like ime did.

Update as of Thursday 3/30/2023 @ 2130 Hours EST

SO SATISFYING TO SMASH THE MOTHER **** BUCKS IN THEIR HOUSE. THEY WOULD HAVE LOVED TO LOCK IN THE 1 SEED TONIGHT. GIANNIS IS **** AWFUL - AND WOULD BE EVEN WORSE IF HE WAS NOT GIVEN 5-6 EXTRA O FOULS PER GAME & ALLOWED COUNTLESS TRAVELS.

MYSTIFYING HOW OUR TEAM MOST LIKELY BLEW THE 1 SEED BY LOSING TO THE WIZ & ROCKETS RECENTLY.

BUCKS VS CELTS:
Bucks 55-22
Celts 53-24
Only way to get the 1 seed:
1. Celts win out VS the Jazz, Sixers, Raps, Raps & Hawks;
2. Bucks lose 2 of their remaining 5 games VS the Sixers, Wiz, Bulls, Grizz & Raps.
THAT AINT HAPPENING.

CELTS VS SIXERS:
Celtics 53-24 (Jazz, Sixers, Raps, Raps & Hawks)
Sixers 50-26 (Raps, Bucks*, Celts*, Heat, Hawks, Nets)
Magic Number to lock in the 2 seed - THREE!

Man, if TOR wins the playin, that'll be a heck of a lot of games against them in a couple week span. Like, six.

Apparently we still have a chance at the 1 seed. Some Bucks fans over at their board think they're losing the Sixers, Grizzlies and Raptors games as well.

They easily could lose the Sixers game since Embiid will be shooting for MVP. Grizz are almost locked into the 2 seed so by the time they play them they might rest some of their starters against the Bucks

I still really really would prefer to have that number one seed all things considered..

Having the number 2 seed doesn't make me believe we can't win it all, But I certainly feel more comfortable with the top seed and all the things that come with that.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Update as of Friday 3/31/2023 @ ~2300 Hours EST

See my detailed thoughts in the VC thread regarding tonight’s W VS the Jazz.
Short version:
JT out of this world brilliant. Malcolm broke the game open with his quasi-brilliance. Derrick excellent.
Overall D sucked. #7 truly sucked. Marcus was mostly awful - way way too much 3 point shooting & A/TOV = 2/2. Part of that was consequent to JT being constantly trapped, but he had other better shooters to pass to!

BUCKS VS CELTS:
Bucks 55-22
Celts 54-24
Only way to get the 1 seed:
1. Celts win out VS the Sixers, Raps, Raps & Hawks (doable with focus & consistency);
2. Bucks lose 2 of their remaining 5 games VS the Sixers*, Wiz, Bulls, Grizz* & Raps.
Do we root for the Sixers tomorrow? **** A YES! Our MAGIC NUMBER to lock in the 2 seed is ONLY TWO!

CELTS VS SIXERS:
Celtics 53-24 (Sixers, Raps, Raps & Hawks)
Sixers 50-26 (Bucks*, Celts*, Heat, Hawks, Nets)
Do we root for the Sixers tomorrow? **** A YES! Our MAGIC NUMBER to lock in the 2 seed is ONLY TWO!

Thoughts?

The problem is EVEN IF the Sixers beat the Bucks on Sunday night & ASSUMING we win out our final 4 games, who the **** else is going to beat the Bucks for us? The Grizz may be sitting their starters next Friday because they probably will have the WC 2 seed locked by then.

EDIT: Grizz w the 2 seed are 2 games ahead of the Kings w the 3 seed - each w 5 games left - BUT THE KINGS ALREADY HAVE THE TIEBREAKER. IF THE KINGS CAN GET TO WITHIN 1 GAME OF THE GRIZZ BY THURSDAY @ COB, THEN THE GRIZZ WILL INDEED HAVE SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR WHEN THEY PLAY THE BUCKS ON FRIDAY. ROOT FOR THE GRIZZ TO LOSE AND THE KINGS TO WIN NEXT WEEK BETWEEN NOW & THURSDAY @ COB!

All that said, odds clearly suggest our path is the 7 seed, then probably the Sixers & then the Bucks w/o HC.
Absolutely doable - but a very challenging path.

I think they will lose 1 of the games vs Washington/Chicago but feel like they'll beat Philly on Sunday. The last game vs Toronto will be interesting. I could see both the Celtics and Bucks resting guys even without securing thrir seed.

Good grief. People need to get over it and stop whining about the wizards loss from several days ago.

We lost to a bad team. It was a bad game for us - it sucked. But losses like that happen to every team. All good teams lose to bad teams sometimes.

We have the 2nd fewest losses in the league (fewest in the east) to teams under .500.

And if we don't get the 1 seed, it's not that big of a deal. The 1 seed hasn't won the east since 2017. The Bucks were the 1 seed in 2019 and 2020 and didn't make the nba finals either time. We just destroyed the bucks in milwaukee 2 nights ago and beat them easily in milwaukee last yr in game 6. I'm not scared of them, even if the bucks have home court. It's like some of ya'll act like having home court means you get home court in every game of the series. We could beat the Bucks in 6 games - we'd have 3 of those games in Boston and 3 of them would be in Milwaukee. That's not home court advantage if both teams had the same amount of home games, it it?

Not to mention, Cleveland has a better overall net rating than milwaukee and a better net rating in games vs top 10 teams than milwaukee so i wouldn't be surprised if cleveland beats milwaukee in the 2nd round - which would mean we'd have home court in the ECF..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Still bothered.
But I have moved on.

I will even say this:
1 seed or 2 seed, if JT plays like he has of late, Bobby the DIFFERENCE MAKER stays healthy, Malcolm & Derrick continue to be invaluable, #7 limits himself to what he does best & elitely, Marcus limits himself to distributing & D the vast majority of the time, Al continues to mostly defy his age & shoot the lights out, we move the ball with a minimum of TOV, we play D & gang rebound most of the time, & we close out games more intelligently, no one is beating us in a 7 game series.

When the shots are falling nobody can beat the Celtics. However, they have rarely shown the ability to will a victory (like they could last year) with second chance points, tough interior baskets, hunting the weak link or with stifling defense when the 3 is not falling.

They need to get on a roll and Tatum has to have no slumps.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Return to Boston Celtics
